For example:

How can one cup of macaroni (228g) only have 250 calories?

If 5g's are protein, 12's are fat, and 31g's are carbs, what does the other 180 grams consist of?

1g of protein = 4 calories
1g of carbs = 4 calories
1g of fat = 9 calories

Macaroni:

5g of protein = 20 calories
12g of fat = 108 calories
31g of carbs = 124 calories

Total: 252 calories

You never mentioned if that's dry weight or cooked weight, so let's say, 180g is water weight, which, obviously, hasn't any calories.

Water. That looks like cooked weight.
