Missed the first 19 games of the season and started off slow cause of lingering injuries but since then he's slowly gotten back into form carrying the Jazz through all their other injuries and averaged 21 and 11 through January.

I agree. But he did miss a lot of games.

I'd have him there over Tony Parker.

Stats are still better than Parker's overall.

parker has only played 2 more games than williams. so games missed shouldnt be a factor btw.

Parker plays in one of the bottom 5 slowest paced teams in the league. So less chances to put up big numbers. When the stats adjust for pace, Parker has had the better statistical year.

his team is 2nd best in the west while Williams team is not. Dont really see any argument at all for williams over parker.

Which is why I didn't mention it. But thanks for putting words in my mouth. ;)

Yes I know that extremely valuable PER is something you rely heavily on.

The Spurs have a little more to work with then the Jazz. You don't see an argument for Williams, but you're in the minority. Stats are better, does it with less to work with (how many games has Tim Duncan missed btw because Carlos Boozer's missed 38).

What exactly is the argument for Parker over Williams? Oh because he's 10 places higher on the PER rating list?

i didnt say you did bring up the miss games. i was just saying that in general. didnt expect some one to take offense to that lol................

fine dont take pace into account. I guess everyone on the knicks and warriors are just ballers

I didn't think it was relevant to mention.

What is the argument for Parker over Williams?

JKeith can i have a rep since we're in such aggreance?

Deron Williams > Parker and Billups

Parker and Williams are pretty comparable in stats. I personally would take Williams over Parker.

Deron Williams > Parker and Billups

I don't think its an absolute lock, but Deron's stats are better and his team has been hampered by injuries all season.

Parker's played an all-star worthy season, but statistically matched to Williams he isn't there. If you have to take one, Deron's just played better.

Billups have to be there. His stats are comparable to Williams and he turned a team around.

Imo, so does Williams. He's the best player on a winning team especially over Parker.

well clearly, 18 adn 10 on .46 pct shooting and 4th in the league in TO is so much better than 21 and 7 on .50 pct shooting....

I didn't say it was so much better, but Williams leads Parker fairly convincingly in Assist/TO ratio, double-doubles, free throw percentage, 3pt's, with slight leads in steals and blocks. Parker also doesn't attempt 3 pointers like Williams does. 46% shooting isn't exactly a bad percentage.

Again, I'm not upset with the Parker selection, but of the two Deron's better. If you have to take one of the two Deron gets the edge.

you konw some one is reaching when he brings up that player A is averaging .25 blocks a game and uses that as a major point over player B

I agree which is why I mentioned it as a slight statistical edge.

In terms of shooting efficiency, Williams is slightly better. You simply can't look at FG% as the criteria. Not since the 3pt line has been incorporated into the game. haha

Parker doesn't even take 1 3pter per game; Williams takes almost 4. Williams has a higher TS% which is the standard of shooting efficiency.

Even though Parker's stats are close to Deron, Derons are still better.

Not to mention Deron is probably the best defensive PG in the NBA right now. Plus I would take Duncan and the Spurs supporting cast over Deron's Jazz.

Its fairly obvious that he should go over Parker. Parker's played well this year and I'm not bent at his selection, but it should have been after Deron or not at all for this season.

Deron is the more talented guy, but in no way do I put him above Parker for the all-star team this season.

34+ points in his last 3 games.
