Interesting article, I think he means just as much if not more to his team than any other receiver in the league.

If the voters look at more than just receiving yards I think he has a chance.

Amazing blocking wide reciever, great reception reciever(with solid stats on a running team), very important to the steelers and potentially 2 superbowls.

Can't say he doesn't deserve it really.

didn't read the article, but his importance is similar to Lynn Swann's was for the steelers. Not huge stats, but their presence is/was so valuable.

tons of people do, but they'd LOVE to have him on their team

Steeler fans, please don't even try...

sounds like a challenge to me!

he's about to pass 10,000 yards receiving, he has more receptions and receiving TDs than Michael Irvin despite playing 1 LESS season, and is all of 43 receptions behind Randy Moss (they joined the NFL in the same year) and 69 receptions behind Torry Holt. He easily has at least 2 productive seasons in him, which will put him into the top 10 of receptions all-time and close to the "magic" career 1000-reception mark

You can cry all you want about him, the dude produces. Is he HoF material?

Maybe. Let's see how he finishes off his career.

i think he is without a doubt already bound for the hof

more evidence:

74 receptions, 1021 yards, 8 TDs in 13 postseason games

extrapolated to a 16-game "season", that equals:

91 receptions, 1257 yards, 10 TDs over 16 games

compare to a 16-game (postseason) average for Jerry Rice:

Rice - 86 receptions, 1283 yards, 12 TDs
Ward - 91 receptions, 1257 yards, 10 TDs

now, I'm not suggesting that Ward is as good as Rice. However, considering the type of offense he plays in and who he's had QBing him compared to Jerry Rice, I think the case for Ward is at least reasonable

My "please don't even try" comment was directed at me not being able to like the guy. Is he HOF worthy? Maybe, but I'll never like him.

Would he be the first Asian man to get into the HOF if he were inducted?

(Well half-asian technically, but he was born in Korea, so that's asian to me)

fair enough

Absolutely not.

okay, why is it an "absolutely not"?

Again, not saying he's Hall worthy, but he deserves to be in the discussion

He should be flagged for taunting because of that smile of his.

Apparently African American genes are better than Asian or Cockasian or any other race for that matter, therefore he is black, as is Obama:rolleyes:

Certainly, he deserves a look. His numbers are rather impressive and his impact on the Steelers' franchise is undeniable.

LOL at all the haters... Im a Browns fan and I love Hines Ward. What could you possibly hate or dislike about him? The dude plays his heart out every phucking play and has more passion for the game than some entire teams.

Dont hate if you cant replicate.

Definite HOFer, his value and legacy goes way beyond his receiving stats.

If Jim Rice can make it in, Ward can.

Cuz he loves to play the game. His nickname is Mighty Mouse around the NFL because that what he looks like when he smiles.

Hines is a badass whether you like him or not. He's way more effective than T.O. has ever been for the Cowboys. That's a whole other bucket of chum.

lol, that picture is awesome.

Like I said, I think he deserves to be in the hall... hopefully judges dont compare his stats to the big 3 and not vote him in.

If Andre Reed has to wait, Hines Ward may die before he gets in...

A feel-good story isn't enough to get you into the most saturated position there is for the HOF... strong Ring of Honor material tho. If he lands MVP honors Sunday tho, that MAY be enough to put him over the top. Its funny how everyone talks about Warner's HOF chances riding on this game, but they COULD be for Ward too.

Ward is awesome, he's been my favorite receiver in the NFL for awhile because of his physical style of play. I love receivers who like to lay some hat. I think he is HOF worthy if Steelers win this SB.

Haha, smile for the camera while carrying the ball.

his stats alone shouldnt get him in the hof. but it's the things he does when he's not catching the ball that makes him worthy...maybe.
