Clint Session.

They call a holding on the ****in defense, oh wait, he's being held by the Guard at the same time.

Phillip Rivers in the pocket, throws the ball 2 ft ahead of him into the ground, no player near, no worries, we won't call it.

Intentional grounding will be called when a passer, facing an imminent loss of yardage due to pressure from the defense, throws a forward pass without a realistic chance of completion.

chargers fans have always told me rivers doesnt understand this rule, and now we all were witnesses

That wasn't even the beginning, Dwight Freeney was held the ENTIRE game by the left tackle.

There was a string of plays where the dude straight up grabbed him by the facemask to "block" him but the refs were all over the Colts' "holding" when they were backed up in their own endzone.

So i guess you didn't see it the other 2 times he did it on their last 2 drives of the 4th quarter.

And if by "right there" you mean he was 8 yds past the spot where the ball landed, then yea, he was right there.

Both teams were sub-par especially on the offense. The Chargers got this one but they're still not a good team.

You must have missed Gates being about 10 feet away from the ball.

There's no way ANY team can beat the referees...

I wish the NFL would've told me they picked the Chargers to win so I wouldn't have wasted my time watching the game.

the ball landed 3 feet away from the fullback. Rivers was lucky or extremely observant. Either way not intentional grounding.

I only have a problem with one of the calls and that was the DB holding. I also have a problem with the intentional grounding not called. He was about to be sacked and intentionally through the ball into the ground. Yeah there was an eligible reciever by the ball within 5 feet but he didn't through the ball to be caught. He threw to ball intentionally into the ground to avoid a sack. Hence intentional grounding.

bill257

ball doesn't have to be catchable. Just near an eligible receiver. PI rules are different than intentional grounding.

the defensive holding on the last drive in ot was the worst call
i wasnt rooting for either team, but let the play decide the game, not the refs

manofmany
01-04-2009, 07:42 AM
Well, the Colts had plenty of opportunities to win so ultimately it is their fault. But, many calls weren't legit. Like calling Clint Session for facemasking when the defense had him by the facemask and he couldnt see.

And who seriously calls defensive holding? When is the last time you saw that called? Ron Winters took over during OT. Seems like the ref staff had a chip on its shoulder after all the scrutiny Ed Hochuli got after that bad call earlier this year.

Not to mention them calling Chambers or Gates (cant remember which) inbound during the first half for the huge first down. Dungy was stupid enough not to challenge it. Poor playoff decisions year after year by Colts personell. They need to bring in someone like Shanahan and not even consider Caldwell.

shogunfromSD
01-04-2009, 08:37 AM
I dont wanna hear about the refs. Anyone remmeber last year when Phil Luckett called a phantom holding call on Cromarties INT for a 90 yard return for a TD?? throw in some other gifts by the refs in that game and I swear they had money on the colts, but the Chargers still won.

Last nights game was no where near as bad as last years.
