I am a Lions' fan, and some people believe that the will take Sam Bradford #1. What do you think?

WR Michael Crabtree lol

No really you should go with your QB of the future which would probably be Matt Stafford

ESPforMe

Probably Stafford before Bradford but i'm sure they'll take a QB unless someone is really impressive this offseason at the combine and whatnot.

The Lions are horrible at developing QB's though. Look at Joey Harrington. Also, they never really gave Drew Stanton a chance. Why not try him out first?

Because Stanton is not good?? After all.... he is from MSU ;)

For real though, the Lions have been terrible at developing every position.

He would be a decent pick, but I hate when teams pick OT's #1. Are there and good DT's in the draft?

He has only had 17 pass attempts. That is not a fair judgment of his abilities.

They will draft Crabtree. They always draft a WR in the first round.

the lions coaching staff had zero confidence in him. i read a quote from the offensive coordinator saying he was keeping him out so he wouldn't get embarrassed.

How terrible do you have to be for the LIONS COACHING STAFF to think you will embarrass yourself if you get a chance to play?

theres terrence cody from alabama and bj raji from bc but theyre projected more later first round..they could prob potentially get a steal with the 1st pick in the second round.

it would be ridiculous to draft crabtree when they have so many needs, and they already have calvin johnson. bradford looks to be their guy

ESPforMe

I see the draft along these lines...

#1a QB, #1b LT, #2 Defense and probably most of the rest of the draft on D

Drafting QBs at #1 overall is the wrong way to go. Nobody has had success with that since Troy Aikman

Eli wasn't drafted #1 overall by the Giants

Forgot about Peyton, the Colts had to go through a lot of his choking in big games before their SB though.

Terence Cody has already told Nick Saban he is staying for another year.

Last I heard, Andre Smith is also thinking about staying. Supposedly, they (NFL) think they might move him to RT because he may not be able to handle the speed rush of the NFL. So it looks like he'll consider staying to learn a little more.

Has anyone confirmed is Stafford is looking to turn pro yet?

He's highly sought after by the NFL...since he was in high school almost. They love everything about him when it comes to the NFL. But if Bradford were to put on a big show against a defense like UF's it would certainly help him out.

1. Michael Oher
2. Andre Smith (dropped because of suspension)
3. Aaron Curry

because they have no confidence in stanton. apparently they've changed his throwing motion 3 times since he's been there, and he struggled to throw a spiral in spring camp.

Eli was the first pick though and are you really trying to say Peyton hasn't been worthy of the #1 pick. He is already of of the best QB's to play the game.

If Tebow comes out and the Lions draft him, put a fork in the Lions franchise forever.

They won't go that route.

I wouldn't mind seeing them go heavy in defense. It seems they can put points on the board, but they can't keep other teams from putting up more.

This ^^^^^.

They got a running back, maybe the best WR in the game and adequate QB play.

They will go defense which is why I think they will go Aaron Curry.

They need to trade that pick away for a 2nd & a 3rd. The Lions are the worst team in NFL history. They can't chance a #1 overall pick on a QB plus paying 70 million when he hasn't proved he can play in the NFL.

If Sam is a bust & the Lions draft him #1, that will set the Lions back 2 years of rebuilding.

Agreed

There's no point in drafting someone first overall when you can get 2 or 3 picks from someone. The Dolphins got Long last year, but he didn't change that team, Chad Pennington did, plus they had some alright players in place already. Detriot has nothing

DrunkNinjaMastr
12-31-2008, 07:35 AM
For all of you saying the Lions are terrible at developing qb's please tell me who they have had to work with. I mean its not like the other teams who have picked up Joey Harrington made him into a star. Also your going to have a new GM and a whole new coaching staff. They are going to want the qb of the future. Also this is a copy cat league and with the success of Flacco and Ryan this year QB's will be at a premium.

there are teams that might jump at Crabtree or Bradford, right? Lions need so much

Oher or trade the #1 pick.

anonymous123
12-31-2008, 08:41 AM
QB is the least of their concerns. That would be such a waste of a pick. They need to develop a strong offensive line before they do anything.

wynner64
12-31-2008, 08:54 AM
They should go with an offensive linemen, but they probably won't. They need someone to gain a little attention out of the fans, and the only way they'll do that is if they draft a skill position such as a QB. I think they'll go with Matt Stafford even though it would be wiser to go with Oher.

Being a Rams fan, I would really like them to go with Stafford =D

Didnt Michael Crabtree already stated that he's staying in school and not entering the draft?

Lions, under new coach and GM, will pick a franchise QB or an anchor lineman. Stafford or Bradford is my guess with this pick.

I say take one of the top tackles at number one. They should go defense after that though.
