And when, for how long, and how do you do it?

Is it only on workout days or seven days a week?

Simply put it's eating more than your maintenance calories. The body needs a surplus of calories to grow muscle. It's seven days a week, and you do it until you are unhappy with your amount of body fat.

It's eating more calories than you burn in order to gain muscle. It is done best with clean food and proper amounts of calories(protein/fat/carbs) in order to minimize fat gain. It can also be done by eating your ass off which is not recommended. You'll see optimal results if you pair it up with lifting some heavy ****. Also do some cardio a few times a week to further minimize fat gains. Look up "Dreamer bulk" in the search thing to see what not to do.

Summary: Food+Weights=Muscles

Would you only put gas in your car when you run out?
