Well, after vacation, the stress of almost losing my boss (friend) and just letting myself slip back into some old habbits, I am right back here making a new cutting journal instead of bulking. Its no ones fualt but my own and I feel like a fool for letting it go this far again. I didn't gain a whole lot of fat back but enough that my clothes are starting to fit a little tight again. I've got to put a stop to it now. So here we go with this new cutting journal. Wish me luck and any advice is always appreciated.

Woo hoo! Good luck on the cut. Only a couple things jumped out about the diet.
1. I assume there will be wsome deviation. Same foods over and over just sucks but more power to ya if you can.
2. Drop the skim milk post wo and use water. Milk will slow down the absorption.

Good luck man!

Sup Chad, I am subscribed. Good luck in this next leg of your journey. Did you lower your cardio from the last month? I thought I remembered you doing cardio atleast 3 or 4 times a week.

Yeah, I think I was over doing it a little before. I am going to start with this and see how it goes. I have it all worked out to where I should lose 1.5Lbs a week.

I was a little slow last night...duhhh... :D

Actually, my first time with the workout I went a little light because I was new to it. Also I haven't been above 5 reps for a long time so I didn't really know where to start. Thanks though.

Well, I plan to run for 30min. when I get home today. I will freeze my ass off but oh well, I've been through worse.

He is still slowely getting better. He is still having a lot of trouble with memory. They are going to start him on some medication today that will hopefully help him with that. Other than that, he is alive and well. Thank you very much for asking.

man i iwsh it would rain pretty hard here i need a car wash and havent found the time to be able to do it.

too help your dilema you could always do v ups and/or bicycles. they are ab routines but usually get me sweating. or you could be a baller and go run in the rain. the extra resistance probably would burn more calories. :-)

Well, I am already sick so I don't think running in the rain when it is 38 degrees outside is wise. I am actually feeling way worse tonight. I swear to God, everytime I buckle down and get serious I get sick. What the hell???

Good to see you back in action! Good luck, and don't let anything get in your way this time! I'm rootin' for ya.

Running has worked really well for me, cardio-wise. I keep my heart rate somewhere between 140 and 170 for about 30 min. Although lately it's been getting harder and harder to keep that heart rate up in the higher numbers...gotta push harder I guess.

Is running at the gym an option for you?

Reps for getting right back on track, my man.

Maybe just get some rest and keep the diet in order for a couple days. For some reason this winter I am getting sick alot too. Nothing serious but just enough to piss me off. Probably because we are eating less so our immune systems are lower. :(

Thanks disney, good to see you along for the ride. I work out at home in my garage so running at a gym isn't an option. It'll stop raining soon and I'll be back out there running again.

I am hitting the weights today and I may try to fit a run in after. I am not gonna let this little cold get me down. Maybe the running will break up the chest congestion.

Saturday I'm going over to a buddies house. He and his band (which I roadie and guitar tech for) are doing some recording. So I am gonna go have a listen and drink a few beers. I know its not good for cutting but ya gotta live a little sometimes.

Sorry Barb, I didn't get out of work this morning until 12:00AM. I worked 5:30AM to 12:00AM yesterday, an 18 hour shift. But I was doing a lot of manual labor like restacking lumber and steel by myself so I got a pretty good workout. My fullbody sessions last about 45 min.

I am actually going to get shorter and shorter on time to work out. We are quickly reaching rodeo season here. The "Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo" is a 1 month event and it takes about another 3 weeks to prepare and tear it down. I will be work around 12-16 hours a day for 7 days a week. I mostly have to maintain with cardio through this period.

This is our busiest time of the year. This is a really high stress job. I love it but I hate. From From December to July we are slammed with back to back shows and then it slows up a bit. It gets pretty crazy around here.

Man, I tell you, its like the elements are against me here. Last night I was up half of the night with my son because he was sick and so was my wife. So needless to say, I had to catch up on sleep this morning instead of doing cardio. I know it has got to sound like I am making up excuses by now but that is how busy my life is right now. Hopefully I get to hit the weights tonight. I haven't lost one single pound yet.

Nice workout man!

But as I was saying before about congrats on improvements to your lifts, it looks like you add a rep or 5 lbs to each set. Is this just based on your previous workout or your personal best? Because last time you sort of shrugged it off saying you are going light. And I was confused lol.

And hell that paragraph might have confused you...are those PR's or just part of the routine and adding weight week to week?

They are actually PRs for the rep range that I am doing. Well some of them anyway. Like squats, I have done more weight in the past but I am using much better form now. I will start specifying which lifts are actual PRs for the rep range I am doing. Thanks for pointing that out.

I went back and edited the w/o to show PRs. I started out light but have now gone into new territory.

No party, just me and the wife are going to sit and watch it together.

Yes, I enjoyed my day off. It was great. Especially because I went and bought a 42"/Flat Panel/Plasma TV yesterday. Its gonna be a great Superbowl. That is why I didn't get my cardio in this morning because I was up late last night messing with the new TV. I won't be doing any weights tonight either because I am taking my wife to the IFL (Internation Fight League) at my Arena tonight. It is a lot like the UFC MMA fighting. Its gonna be awesome. One of the perks of my job is I get free tickets to some of the shows. I also got free tickets to take my son to see Monster Trucks at the Stadium tomorrow night. So if you are ever in Houston, TX., maybe I could hook you up with some tickets to something. Not everything though and definitley not football. They won't let any of those go free. They should though being that it is the Houston Texans. :(

Anyway, I will be doing my cardio and weight training tomorrow. L8R...

Long story short, I got a phone number to a guy I hadn't seen in almost seven years. I called him the other night and he told me he was living in Dallas now. He met Guy Metzger, they became friends, he moved to Dallas where Guy has a gym, and did some MMA fighting. He said it's "not his calling," but he enjoys the sport. Currently he holds a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Must be something in that Texas air...;)

Well, here is my one month update. I lost 10Lbs. but only lost one inch in my waist. I went down around 2% in BF though so I guess things are going well. I have been doing pretty good on my diet. No cheating except for my cheat day. I don't have any pics because my camera is screwed up right now. I am adding my new workout to this post.

Comments: Cardio was good this morning all except for my right leg acting up again. I am starting to think this is not a chin splint. It seriously feels like someone is driving a nail into the side of my calf about to where the chin is. My calf also gets balled up and really tight too. It is starting to hurt me all throughout the day instead of just when I am running. I may end up going to see the doctor because now it is hurting my hip because I am compensating for the leg while running. I am wondering if maybe I have a torn muscle or a fracture in my chin.

I agree a doctor will definately give the best advise. You are hydrated though correct? Muscle cramping sometime happens with dehydration and some potassium may help in the meantime.

No, its not a hydration issue. I drink around 1.5 to 2 gals. a day. Potassium isn't an issue either. Thanks for the advice though SC. I think I will go to the doctor though when I get some time.

JaeGee

I'd probably go see a doctor too chad. I have experienced the same pains you are describing the first practices after some rugby games. I think it came from being hit with an elbow or something near the side of my calf. But since I don't think you have been hit with anything sharp you should get it checked out.

Looks like your workouts the past few days have been killer though, good work!

Hope whatever the issue with your leg is gets worked out smoothly, Good luck.

That was actually cardio from yesterday. I didn't get to run this morning because of rain. Plus I wanted to sleep in anyway because I got a terrible night sleep last night. I will be tearing up the weights this evening though. I hope the lack of sleep doesn't effect my w/o.

I want to eventually work my way up to 45 min. (3 miles). That is if time permits. I already get up at 4:00AM to do my cardio as it is.

The plasma is pretty good. I can't get my HD/Dish Network satellite receiver until next month though. DVDs look great but TV programs aren't much better than my old TV. After I get the receiver and HD programing it will be rockin'...

nice leg workout chad. there shouldnt be anything wrong with getting your hr out of the normal zone. on some hiit i get it up to 185. if anything it burns more calories and conditions your heart.

as far as the grippers i assume just keep squeezing them until you cant anymore. then do about 3 or 4 sets like that.

good luck.

11 hours??!!! How much stuff did she have, or was it a good distance between places?

One of the episodes had Dale's father being the headliner of a "gay" rodeo. Quite a funny episode...he would lassoo (sp?) small cattle and put panties on them. LOL!

It was an hour and 45 min. between places and she has a lot of stuff. Plus she has old stuff that was built right. They just don't build stuff like that anymore and that old stuff is heavy as hell.

Nope, no gay stuff at this rodeo.

Is there something wrong with me... My HR never passes 145-150, during HIIT. I have tried on numerous machines and I know I'm kicking my ass during the workout so I should be higher, I look at the zones on the machines and my HR is so damn low compared to the cardio zone... Is this abnormal? Should I push myself to the point where I can hardly breathe and move my muscles, moreso than already?

Nice workout Chad.

And that's really odd about the HR thing, hell I didn't even do HIIT today, I just ran pretty hard on the elliptical and got it about 150 for most of the 45 minutes. Are you still doing the HR measuring by checking yourself or do you have some sort of machine that reads it for you? Maybe the machine is wrong.

I am so tired. I have 25 more days left of this $hit. I haven't been able to run or w/o and it is driving me insane. My diet has been OK. I crave junk food a lot more because I'm not on a regular eating schedule and I have to miss meals a lot. In my business, the public comes first. I've been telling myself every year for the last seven years, this is my last Rodeo. But, here I am. Anyway, just thought I'd let you all know I'm still alive.

I have lost some muscle, I can tell that for sure. It is driving me crazy. My diet hasn't been real great because I just don't have time. I eat as good as I can but it is really hard too. My waist has gotten a little smaller but I know it is not from fat loss.

Well, hope you all are doing well. I will stop by everyone's journals when I get a chance. I miss talking to you all.

cfh1973
04-04-2007, 05:33 AM
Hey all,
I bet ya'll thought I feel off the edge of the planet. Well, I kind of did actually. It has been really screwed up the last couple of months. First of all Rodeo is always hell. We have to set up for it which takes around two weeks. Then Rodeo itself takes three weeks. After that we have to move it out which takes another two weeks. That is almost two months of working 7 - 12 hour shifts. I had about 3 days off in two months. The worst thing is that I am on salary and not making a whole hell of a lot of money.
Right after Rodeo my sister had a drinking and driving accident. I had to deal with that stress for a couple of weeks. Then a guy that I knew since I was 9 yrs. old, but hadn't seen in 10 yrs., died because he was finally quitting cocain but his body couldn't handle the stress of quitting. Then just last week my sister-in-laws cousin, which I only met twice but hit it off really well with, died of a cocain over-does. Now we are going into our second biggest event of the year. I need a damn break.
Needless to say, my diet has been hell. I have put on little fat but worst of all I have lost a lot of muscle I think. Actually worst of all, I went back to smoking cigarettes for a couple of weeks. Now I am fighting quitting that again. But I started back on my diet this week and will start running again soon. I am also going to try to start lifting again next week.
Anyway, just wanted to let ya'll know that I am still here.

-Chad-

Hi Chad!

Thanks for your update. Sorry to hear about the sad, stressful, events since the rodeo. Down time for stressful events can lead to some extra weight, at least for me at times. If possible, hit the gym for some stress relief. It works better than a smoke. I know...been there before. Doesn't sound like you would have lost that much muscle based on all your work at the rodeo.

Look forward to you posting again. Take care.

Scott
