Genetics may have to do with it, definitely. But it has to do with having a pretty low body fat percentage I believe.

Genetics and low bodyfat. Stomach vaccums and lower ab/oblique stretch position work might help a bit to bring separation.

It's a ligament & your iliac crest.

I believe that you must be around 11-12% bf to start seeing definition in your abs. But If your just doing normal crunches without resistance they wont be that noticable even at that bf. If you want a "V" I suggest doing some kind of weighted hanging leg raises or something that targets your lower abs.

i have a very nice vcut yet i think i have liek 10 bf im not even sure and a very cut six packi think its just genetics and roman chair

Totally genetics. I have those lines hardcore (they show under any lighting), but I still got love handles. I'm around 12-14% BF.

TWO things:

#1 Diet hard and get down to below 8%bf to further expose the muscle groups and fibers
#2 Work your abs heavy to bulk them a bit and bring out the muscle size against the skin

I suggest dropping your calories further and doing weighted decline situps and hanging leg / knee raises. Keep the reps at 12 or below

It's a ligament - your iliac crest.


The iliac crest is part of the iliac bone which is located on the sides.

The ligament you are talking about is the inguinal ligament which originates from the anterior superior iliac spine and inserts in the pubis bone

Most effective workout to build big slabs of muscle in the obliques is by far Dumbbell Side Bend!! try 3-4sets of 12-20reps ( i like to do it heavy.. with 50lb DB'S)

when i get my body fat to 11% or lower mine stick out huge!!! i cannot imagine mine at 8% lol, it will look fantastic!! i will see that in 3 months further on in my cut :)

bro.... i got answers that you want.... well... there are 2 ways to flex your abs... vacuum where you suck in and flex almost inward... like u wanna pull your abs to your ribs... and 2.... where you flex like you are going to get hit in the stomach...

#2... flex this for about 8 seconds and see if you have the V


now here are some exercises... that REALLY target it.

hang on a bar (pullup style) and keet your knees bent @ 90 degrees... so everything is perpendicular to teh ground but your legs... which are parallel.
no poke your head forward a tad and raise your legs (keeping teh 90degree bend) up to for a perpendicular angle with your stomach.. almost like you are sitting with your harnds in the air.... now another way to target a bit diff muscle group is to lean your head back and look up.... this is the best IMO for V and Lower abs.
