Why is mayonnaise so bad for you and very fatty, yet if you read the ingredients, they are all stuff that we consume on daily basis.

Can someone explain whether or not mayonnaise is good or not, and why.

Thanks!

look at the nutrition information and its pretty self explanitory.
also look at it in general and it looks like its all fat.

once again, self explanitory..

I think because it's full of saturates and processed ingredients. Doesn't stop me, though. Love that tangy zip! ;)

Mayo has very little saturated fat.

Ingredients: Soybean oil, water, whole egg, vinegar, salt, egg yolk, sugar, lemon juice concentrate, dried garlic, dried onions.

That's exactly what I read. Also, it is 100/1 tbsb

Mayonaise in fact has very little saturated fat (which come from the emulsifier - egg yolks). Most of it is monounsaturated.

Why it has acquired a bad reputation is because it is a condiment that nobody uses "just a little" of. Three, four tablespoons at a time adds up.
