My current work schedule only leaves me time to workout late at night (9:00 - 11:00PM). My routine is one muscle per day and 30-45 minutes of cardio. I am 5' 7 around 165 lbs with approx. 12% body fat. My main focus is gaining lean muscle mass (5-8 lbs) and lowering my body fat percentage to around 8-10%.

So my question is what should I eat after my workout if I plan on going to bed one hour later. I understand your not suppose to eat a lot of carbs or calories before bed, but also that you should should eat a lot of carbs after your workout. In my case, those are conflicting scenarios.

Currently, I have one of the following low carb protein shakes before bed:

1)Isopure 1.5 scoops -160 cal., 2 carbs, 38 protein, 1 fat)
2)Muscle Milk Shake (11oz) - 230 cal, 11 carbs, 22 protein, 11 fat)

Any advice on the ideal meal or supplement would be great.

IMO carbs pwo are much more important than avoiding before sleep. get in some good carbs and protein in a pwo shake, then right before bed eating a little something else with protein, some fat, and i would still include some carbs. depending on your goals you can eliminate them from the pre bed meal
