how fast did going from 20 to 30 vs 30 to 40 vs 40 to 50 compare on how quick it passed by.
Seems like i was 18 about 5 years ago. I used to laugh at the guy on tv that was in his 40's and saying he is in the best shape of his life. I now know its a lifelong process

Agreed. 20-30 seemed like an eternity. 30-40 seemed long but nothing like 20-30. 40 is when time accelerates at a seemingly, alarmingly logarythmic(sp) rate.
One interesting note: it shocks me how fast the past 45 years have gone. Something you won't feel until you are in your 40's. For me, its like climbing a mountain and never really looking down until you are halfway up. You look around in disbelief at what is below (or past) you and the realization that life isn't forever like you felt when you were young.

In 50 years I will be a faded but awesome memory
Lets see wow this crazy upside down, wonderful, sometimes scary, kinda suprising at times, thing know as my life has been an awesome ride. What a roller coaster. An awesome series of moments. It goes fast really fast so hold on tight and have a blast. Heck have I really been around since the 1960's. In a way I am a classic and in another way I have just begun the last 50 years are going to be fantastic....fast but good ...

coudl time be relative to how long you have already lived?
when i was one year old, a year was a lifetime in my eyes. so when i was two, that second year lasted what seemed a lifetime. when i was 3, that year seemed like half a lifetime from when i was two. then when i was 10, a year was 1/10th of a lifetime--so it seemed a lot shorter than the years between one and two, and two and three... at 20, a year is 1/20th of the lifetime that you've experienced... hence it should seem about half as long as a year did between when you were 10 and 11. from age 30 to 31, it would follow that that year would seem 1/3 that of the year from age 10 to 11. fast forward, to 40. from 40 to 41 flew by (****, and it won't be long until i am 42)--and when i hit 51, i am sure that year will have sped by even faster. when i hit 81, that year between 80 and 81 will seem a blink of an eye...
i've always thought that our perception of time is based on how long we have been here. a year at 100 would seem 1/10th a year at age 10. too bad it doesn't follow that i could run 10 times as fast at 100 as when i was 10...
that is how i make sense of the way that time blow by as we get older... and when we were younger, it seemed we had all time time in the world and a year seemed like such a long time. now it seems like just last week that i was doing my taxes, and guess what... it's gettining that time again. and on the contrary to time getting shorter, taxes seem to only increase as time goes onjust my $0.02.

I will be 53 in less than two months. my best years were 20 to 30. It was a long time to get to 30, yet when it hit and I looked back it didn't seem that long. 40 to 50 was a blink. I plan in terms of years know as not being that far off! To speak in terms of twenty and thirty years ago seems odd.

Time. Precious thing....time. As I race (and I mean race) towards the end of my time I guard it like a mother Tiger with an attitude. My grandfather lived 91 quality years and passed at 93. So that could be 25 years more for me. Hmmm.... If I added lets say just one little 'ol rep a year to my 25 lb. weighted 10 rep chins, at 91 that would be....
Speaking of time...gotta go now. It's 4:30AM Christmas morning and it's extended cardio/back day.

I dunno.. I started becoming aware of my age at 30. From 30 to 40 was a flash. I am 41 now and I think my reluctance to grow old, just makes the years go by quicker.
Nothing you can do really, except make the time you got left enjoyable. And I for the most part, do exactly that."If ya keep doing what you've always done, you'll keep getting what you've always got"

After you hit 40, 2 or 3 unscheduled blinks and 5 years are gone, or sneeze 4 or 5 times and sea a decade pass.

Spot on - all of a sudden everything I seem to refer to in the past was 20 years ago WTF ?
And I constantly refer to stuff that people in their 20-30s have NO IDEA what I'm talking about. In Misc the other day, there was a post about Raquel Welch and someone said they'd never heard of her until seeing her poster in the Shawshank Redemption.
I almost cried, I saw 1m Years BC at the cinema. ARGH.

20 to 30 seemed much longer than 30-40 and 40-50 . I remember dreading hitting 30 and feeling old about for a few months before my birthday. When I got to 40 I was so busy I barely noticed . 50 was a little tougher but nothing like hitting 30 . I plan on 50-60 being the best decade yet and to accomplish that I am staying in shape, eating clean ,working less and driving my racecar and snowmobile[my hobbies] more.I love going fast I just wish I could slow the clock down a bit.

Thanks for all your replies!
I just returned from Rome last night. Its amazing to think of the civilizations that were there 2,800 years ago (and beyond). Our individual lifetimes are nothing compared to modern man's vast history on earth. Makes you really wonder why we're here.
One conclusion I've drawn since I've been back is that our time is really very short here. I have vowed to be more physically/mentally active in my life instead of spending too much time on the internet. I was away for a week and I didn't miss it at all! I really have pissed away 7 years of time on the internet that i should have been using to build my body and mind, and spending it with the special people in my life (you guys are special too! I hope everyone has a healthy and productive year and get the things that you aspire for.
All the best,
Kurt

Time seems to pass faster as I age, no doubt!
I was just a kid until I got to about 40, I really did wonder when I would be considered a man even though I was a single dad of two girls and a boy. There was never enough time in a day to do all I wanted to get done.
After that and particularly the last few years go by like months. I often say “last week when...” and someone will remind me that was 6 months ago.
Definitely, as I grow older, the years fly by faster. I’ve had a great life and I continue to even with some pretty severe ups and downs. On we march, sometimes wishing it was a little slower. LOL

I'm 43 chronologically but I don't feel like it. And I have maintained a childlike (not childish) spirit in my life. I see the years peeling away faster then from my youth but there is a lot more going on in my life now so that's alright.
