How much is your gym membership?
I may be shooting myself in the foot by asking this in the misc section. What's your monthly? Did you have to pay an initial membership fee? Did you lock yourself in for a long-term or short term?
I want to join a new gym opening within walking distance of my house. There's a promo for a 12month membership for $360.

I paid a high registration fee (100  ) when I signed up my mother for a membership. But I recieved a month plus free membership and I am planning to get one for myself. 35/month.

You know those nature shows where a wasp paralyzes a caterpillar, then injects it full of larvae? It stays alive for weeks, completely aware, feeling every little bite as the larvae devour it from the inside. I sat in a cubicle every day envying that caterpillar, cause at least he got to be on TV. I hated that job. I was a crappy employee.

hey it was either pay $50 but go 5 minutes away, or pay $24 and drive 30 minutes with crazy stop and go traffic. IMO its worth it because of all the time I save, and stress I avoid.

I pay $42.95 a month and it's a 1 year deal. There were fees (over $100 worth if you pay full price for one year) but I got out of all of them by holding out a few weeks. They kept called me with new offers until finally telling me if I joined that day they would waive all fees and just charge me for the upcoming month.

Mine is $38 per month. Or $350 per year. However this year, I was able to get a year's membership for $100. There was an auction that I went to recently at my son's school. They had a membership (year) there and of course nobody bid on it except for me.

That sounds pretty good. Figure out your gas to and from the other place for a year and subtract the amount from the 360.00.
If you are a very commited lifter then go for a two year contract. If you are just starting pay a little more and get a one year, you might only lift a few months and quit so why pay forever.
