    Leg Press Quad Isolation

I'd like to know how to best target the quads when using the leg press with regards to foot placement (height and width).

I currently use medium width with the feet low on the platform with my toes pointed out.

I always tend to feel them more in my glutes, not that this is bad i would just like to target my quads more on this exercise since my glutes get destroyed when i squat anyway.

    Thanks for any help

Feet in low-medium height (as low as you can without feeling too much stress on the knees) and slightly closer than shoulder width, toes pointing straight forward. That's what I've found to build quads the best while still letting me use big weights.

Agreed. With the higher and wider the foot placement, you will get more hip extension (glutes and hamstrings) in your leg presses. Stick with Uriel recommendations and just be careful because not everyone's knees can tolerate the lower and closer foot placement.

Does this change in foot position also change how low you should go?

I usually do shoulder width with toes pointing out and go down until my knees are farther back than my chest (basically the sled is 1-2 inches from its lowest point)

If i put my toes forward and feet closer together should I go only to 90 degrees?

the lower your feet are on the platform the more quads will take over,, if you point your toes out you get more hamstring and abductor work,, i prefer getting my feet low, close, and toes pointed in,,this hits the outer sweeps more

With the feet forward and close together, you won't be able to get a lot of ROM. Your upper thigh will eventually be stopped by your torso. Go as deep as you can. Just make sure that the hips don't rise on you.

Have there ever been any studies verifying any of these weird theories?

I don't see the point, the leg press is a compound movement, switch up the stance now and then and get better at them all, the best stance is the one that let's you handle the most weight without injury.
