Ipod Converter For Car??
I need to buy and ipod converter thing for my car. I know nothing about cars but I heard some cars pick up the transmitter better than others? I dont even know if that made sense. SO I need suggestions to make my ipod music play on my car. I have a M-BNZ SLK and it DOES have a tape deck.
Thanks!

You can buy a tape that has a jack leading from it, plug the tape into the tape deck and plug the jack into your ipod.
ill find a link in a minute if i can.

Don't get the really expensive ones that you plug into your cigarette lighter and set the radio station to, they suck. I think the cheaper tape ones work fine, they just don't charge it.

Don't know if this is what you're hinting at, but (oh keep in mind i don't have an ipod, my friend has one of these though) there's something you plug into the bottom of the Ipod and you tune it to a certain station, something that's not a normal radio station in your area, and put your stereo on the same. When he used his, it worked but the connection was ****ty, but it was also an old radio. Got his at Walmart....@$10. Hope that helps

I tryed a Belkin FM transmitter in my old Volvo... it wasn't very good; used the tape adapter and got much better quality. However, the transmitter was cheap and I gave up on it after like 5 minutes. You could probably find a good frequency/placement if you spent a little time with it.
I just use the tape insert and bought a charger for like 15 bucks... not as convieniant, but whatever.

^^^Mine worked great for a while, but living in a big city I had problems getting clear reception and finding a station and now, about a year after getting it, it screws up all the time and only plays out of certain speakers and stuff. It's really screwy.

You didnt say what year your car was.....
Go to www.mp3car.com and search there, or look for an Aux input for your car. Also, you might be able to do a straight RCA to Headphone cable run in your car of the back of your headunit, which would be the cheapest thing. But an actual cable will give you the best sound quality, and mp3car will give you the most help.

I got a tape deck too. Sound quality is the same as a CD.
It's called a cassette adapter. It'll be in the iPod section of any store like Target, Walmart, Walgreens, etc.

rather than make a new thread I'll bump this one.
Which one does everyone here use? I've tried two so far, both from belkin, and they both suck. I'm getting ready to go to the store to try another one. Which one should I buy?

Have you considered just upgrading your stereo so it has an aux jack?
Thats what I did and I just plug the ipod into the aux port and into my headphone jack and it plays.
The only downside is the music is kind of low, I think it may be a speaker problem.
