I see a Cap Barbell standard tree on their website for $39.99. I have the Oly version of that same weight tree, and it works fine. I want to get another one as a matter of fact so I can have one on each side of my rack.

Tired of being lied to
I got mine at walmart I think I paid 25 bucks for it. Works great for me.

I work out in my basement and I simply put steel rods through the jackpole holes and load the weight's on that. Works pretty good.

Ron Paul!
I went to dicks today and the olympic trees were $50.
BUT
the standard trees were $25.
so i was like, wtf, the olympic ones are twice as much.
so I loaded the standard tree they had and it was fine.
So, all in all, with my coupon, I got a standard tree for $15.
FIFTEEN BUCKS. not bad at all.

Cool! I have thought about doing the same. I see that all the time, Oly ones costing quite a bit more than standards. No reason to, the construction isn't any different, they just use cheap 2" pipe instead of cheap 1" pipe.

exactly. plus since its a standard rack it makes it easier to slide the plates on/off because there is more space around the pole. if it was an oly tree id have to bend down, push with both hands, make sure its in the right position, etc.

I have both a standard and oly tree and it is much easier to get the plates on and off the standard tree.

Michaelnel,
I don’t know if you are kidding or not but here's your answer. A jackpole is a support post used to hold up a load caring beam (under a house). Used mostly in basements. The type jackpole in question is most likely a two piece type made up of one tubular post sliding down in another tubular post which is only slightly larger.
There are corresponding holes in each pole that allows you to place a pin through these holes making the jackpole the length needed. The top usually has a screw type adjustment to make up the final length needed. Not all the adjustment holes are needed so you could place a long rod through the unused holes and use the jackpole as a weight tree.
I hope this helps.
