I have an arthritic left knee, so i cant do HIIT cardio, so i do about an hr a day on a cycle. Is that too much?
Also are the calorie counters about right? It says i burn about 500 cals per hr.
Thank you for any input...

The bike isn't the best. It's not so much the time as the quality of cardio. If your knee can handle the rowing machine, that would be far superior as it is engaging your entire body. Or the arc trainer, which looks like a short elliptical. It only takes 20 minutes or so to kick in your fatburning mechanism. One hour is overkill. 30-45 minutes is ideal, then don't eat for about an hour afterward as you will still be burning fat. Kettlebell swings and high pulls would be ideal.

First off... those calorie counters don't mean anything in terms of actual calories burned and they absolutely cannot be compared between different types machines. They are just a rough estimate. The only thing you can use the calorie counter for is as a measure of work on a specific type of machine by a specific brand.
Second, I would not reccomend using the rowing maching (ergometer) unless you had some coaching by someone who actually knows how to do it right, most likely someone with crew experience. There is a lot of technique to doing it right and doing it incorrectly while going hard is a good way to cause some stress injuries. But if done correctly, the erg is the hardest form of cardio I have ever had the displeasure to experience I am having painful memories of my crew days even thinking about it hehe.
