Casein Protein

Just wondering if any of you supplement with casein protein (specifically micellar casein) along with whey. My diet is in great shape but I wanted to mix some casein powder in with my whey during the day to get a long term supply of protein. I also want to take it along with my cottage cheese, skim milk, and mixed nuts pre-bed.
I remember reading somewhere that casein protein powder has been found to be much less effective than whey, but there's alot of false info. out there so who knows. My question is would it be worth investing in some casein powder along with my whey or is it a waste of money to add it to an already solid diet?

Personally I use a whey isolate first thing in the morning and post workout. I use a protein blend all other times during the day. You could get some casein or get a preblended protein

If i remember correctly casein is a slow digesting protein and body builders usually take it at night so there bodys dont start eating away at the protein and muscle they work so hard to get. As a day shake id stick to whey which is a fast absorbing protein usually absorb within 30mins of ingestion. Cottage cheese is a great source of casein protein so maybe if you dont have the money to spend on powder just eat some CC or add it to your shake.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the replies, the blended protein powder during the day sounds like a good idea, cheaper too as micellar casein isn't so cheap. The more I think about my pre-bed meal I already get 40g+ slow-digesting protein from cottage cheese and skim milk anyways so adding more casein is probably pointless.

Question about CC tho, If i mix a half cup of cottage cheese (1% milk fat) with a hand full of grapes and a couple strawberrys would that be bad? since the fruit is adding sugars would it negate the slow digesting for the night time that we want?
