Works great, tastes great (with fruit smoothie) and is a good source of protein.

The salmonella scare is seriously overrated in this case. Just get healthy eggs from healthy chickens.

Raw eggs are not digested as well as cooked eggs... You digest more protein if yo ccok them. Try boiled eggs...

2-3 eggs are no enough.... tre 2-3 whole eggs+3-5 egg whites

read the articles on the website. Here is one for example:
    http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/drryan28.htm

It along with many others states that only 50% of the protein from eggs are absorbed if they are eaten raw but 98% is absorbed if they are eaten cooked.

But raw eggs contain more nutrients though, and that is the way mother nature intended us to eat them.

Your referring to raw egg whites, that's not the case if you consume the whole egg.

Whats the difference? Whole eggs are half egg white, half yolk.... Why would eating egg whites alone be different from eating egg whites along with a yolk?

Make sure that they are pasturized. Regular eggs are not. The pasturized eggs are used in shakes and specialty cooking. Or you could pasturize them youself.

Here's an article discussing why cooking your eggs is better for protein digestion than eating them raw. So don't be lazy.

Good information, but that's not what the OP asked........it's common knowledge that egg whites should be cooked before consumption, and again that doesn't apply to eating the whole egg......I wouldn't eat them raw ,but that's not the point.

1 in every 20,000 eggs are contaminated with salmonella bacteria. Being scared of getting sick is the wrong reason to stay away from eating raw eggs. It is about 5000000 times harder on your body to digest raw albumen (most abundent protein found in eggs) rather then cooked. Eating an egg raw is somehting stupid that they did in the 80's because rocky did it and everyone followed it. cook your eggs, they taste better anyway!

I would avoid them (links below talk about rare amounts of salmonella)
but also to avoid a biotin problem

Originally Posted by skibbi9 View Post

Cooking egg white denatures avidin, rendering it susceptible to digestion, and unable to prevent the absorption of dietary biotin (7).

clarification - Its actually the enzyme avidin in an egg that binds to biotin that prevents its absorption. Boiling or Cooking the eggwhite prevents this problem

So in conclusion, Cooking your egg whites in any form is suggested. I was reading an interesting article about scrambled eggs being a bad way to eat yolks due to oxidation of the yolk....

    Enjoy them suckers!
just because you're also eating the yolk doesn't really change it too much (although Biotin is found in the yolk)

There was a point before i started to use shakes when i was on 18 raw eggs a day.
thats 126 per week. done it for ages and never had any problem.

Works briiliant if you ask me. the whole digestion theory is most likely true but, practice allways beats theory and well, as i said, doing what i did helped me alot.

and the whole salmonella thing is way too overrated. Forget about it.

Been there done that. I used to do it, but than I asked myself why ? I am already taking the required amount of protein a day(1.5-2xmybodyweight). Do it to up the protein in your protein shakes or if you are low on budget and using half the serving of the protein mix

Works briiliant if you ask me. the whole digestion theory is most likely true but, practice allways beats theory and well, as i said, doing what i did helped me alot.

and the whole salmonella thing is way too overrated. Forget about it.

I've been eating raw eggs for almost 5 years and never had any problems. I also know a lot of people who do the same. Try it out. You might not even like it in the first place. I took me a while to get use to it.

Is it safe? It's certainly not life threatening, and the risk of salmonella is slim, unlikely, and could be decreased substantially by avoiding generic eggs. Stick with organically fed (i prefer grain), cage free (or free range [an exaggerated and outlandish term incognito with decreased torture, but a step up from the latter]) eggs.

Over the span of the last 10 decades, the human body has grown accustomed to processed foods, and eating natural food in a very unnatural form. We are the only animals on the face of the planet to process, and subsequently degenerate our food. Consequently, eating something in its raw form (in your case, eggs, can and probably will aggravate your body. Start slow and work your way up. If you tried slamming 5 raw eggs in a shake immediately, you would be on the toilet for a long time.

I'd recommend starting with 1/2 - 1 egg for your first 2 weeks.

Hope I helped. Look up WHY RAW; you will be surprised.

salmonella scare is well overrated. yes it might be true that 1 in every 20,000........but eggs are born in a protective shell for a reason to keep out bacteria from the egg. The only way you can get salmonella is if you eat a raw egg that is cracked....thus the reasoning for the salmonella getting to the egg. Just make sure there are no holes in the shell and you consume the egg right away and it is perfectly healthy.

No im not a doctor but this exact topic was just discussed in my college biology class. so thats my input on what was researched and talked about
