A Romanian Deadlift is the same as a regualr deadlift, except you only lower the bar past the knee to mid-shin level before pulling up again. On a regualr deadlift, the weight touches the floor each rep.

Romanian Deadlift:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bq6hig4ZNMI

Conventional Deadlift:
http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/...BDeadlift.html

On a Romanian Deadlift, the knees are "soft", but don't bend much. It's initiated by pushing the hips back. The bar stays against the thighs and shins througout the exercise.

^^^ Just to add to what Lencho said, with RDLs, keep the bar in contact with your body throughout the whole movement and really focus on pushing your ass back as you lower the weight, slight knee bend, and when you feel a nice stretch in the hams, reverse the movement and drive your hips forward to meet the bar. Great exercise.

romanian DL

I do them with my toes raised (on a board or pad), heels together, but toes pointed out, in addition to the other tips posted here.
This slams the calves while you work the hams.
