What to put on basement floor?

As I was retrieving items from our basement this weekend, I walked by the wife's workout area. Right now, everything is layed out on the concrete floor. Besides my obvious concerns of her hurting herself by dropping weights, I don't think it would be great for the concrete if she dropped a heavy db on the floor.

Have you guys who workout in a basement type area put anything on your floors?

If you don't want to spend money on the commercial gym quality stuff, the following mats work just fine.

If you live near a Tractor supply or other farming equipment place they sell rubber mats for cows and horses. Sometimes called a "cow pad". Usually they are cheap and actually better quality than the gym stuff. I'll see if I can find a link to show you I'm not kidding.

Be sure to let them air out a few days before moving them down stairs, the smell of the rubber can be strong.

I concur with the horse stall mats. Added a few in my garage gym. They hold up well and are MUCH cheaper than other options.
