Playlists for the Treadmill!
I need some new stuff on my mp3 player for my treadmilling. I've a bunch of stuff on there already, but I'm starting to get the musical blahs right about now.
I usually trek at 3.5-4.5 mph, incline is up on the lower speeds, or flat at the higher speeds. Anyway, anything that fits into that tempo range, for anyone who also *must have their music* to workout...
I added a few today. I'll post my full playlist tomorrow after the ipod is charged. Mostly 70s, 80s, early 90s, alternative, punk, New Wave, blah blah and a bunch of misc stuff...
Today's DLs:
~~~~~~
Laura Branigan- Gloria
Matthew Wilder- Break my Stride
Sugarhill Gang- Apache (I'm so ashamed, lol)
Hoodoo Gurus- Come Anytime
Lenny Kravitz- American Woman
Karen Kamon- Manhunt
Foreigner- Urgent
Iggy Pop and the Stooges- Raw Power
Irene Cara- Fame
Irene Cara- What a Feeling
Jackson Browne- Running on Empty
Jimmy - Hey Joe
Mellencamp- Hurts so Good
Lenny Kravitz- are you gonna go my way
Lenny Kravitz- Fly away
Kool and the Gang- Jungle Boogie
Bowie and Jagger- Dancing in the Streets
Talking Heads- And she was
Talking Heads- Life during wartime
Talking Heads- Once in a Lifetime
Talking Heads- Psycho Killer
Talking Heads- This Aint no Disco
Tom Petty- Running Down a Dream
U2- Vertigo
ZZ Top (lol)- Sharp Dressed Man
I think these should go along with your taste... they fit into at least one category you listed. I tried to picked out the funnest, inspirational, most up-beat stuff in my collection (with a few pissed-off style songs you can yell to... if you like that :-P).
'The Adventure' - Angels and Airwaves
'Old Time Rock & Roll' - Bob Seger
'Stupid Girl' - Cold
'Think Twice' - Eve 6
'24' - Jem
'Twist and Shout' - The Beatles
'Blue Monday' - Orgy
'Trouble' - Pink
'Dakota' - The Stereophonics
'I Love to Boogie' - T-Rex
'Lust for Life' - Iggy Pop
'I Like the Way' - Bodyrockers
'Why Don't You Get A Job' - The Offspring
And this one's a little unconventional, but if you pretend you are running for your life or something, it works because it's so orchestrally dramatic: 'Molossus' - Batman Begins soundtrack.
Oh and here's a good Christmas workout song! 'Little Drummer Boy' - Audio Adrenaline.
I run outside, most of the time... but music certainly helps keep the mind occupied. For shorter/faster runs (up to 30 min Cardio) I prefer uniform-rhytm heavy/gothic/industrial metal music, such as Judas Priest, Metallica, Satyrian, Pain, White Skull, Iron Maiden, Ac/DC, Sugar Ray, Arch Enemy, Rammstein etc., and also some punk/rock - The Offspring, Green Day, Toten Hosen - anything that'll be fast, motivational, and will make me move my legs in a uniform rhytm.
For longer psyche runs (ie 45 minutes of everyone leave me alone 'cause I bite) I'll choose enya, era, Santana, Therion, Nightwish or Rotting Christ, ie. anything atmospheric and slow enough to trot to it and get lost in thoughts...
my phone only holds 100 songs so right now my cardio music consists of the killers and maroon 5, and some other assorted people.
my old cardio CDs were a mix of switchfoot, lifehouse, the format, the scorpions, incubus, muse, and I can't remember who else.
Leila,
I do about the same speed on the treadmill as you do. My playlist is mostly uptempo r&b, hip hop and some old school disco.
Disco
GQ - Disco Nights
Sister Sledge - He's the Greatest Dancer
Dazz Band - Joystick
Jacksons - Can You Feel It
R&B and Hip Hop
Amerie - 1 Thing
Janet Jackson - Throb, All for You
Hi-Five - Just Can't Handle It
Tito Nieves - I Like It Like That (Latin)
Beenie Man - King of the Dancehall
Bob Marley - Exodus
Talib Kweli - Listen
Chubb Rock - Treat 'Em Right
Missy Elliott - Lose Control
Destiny's Child - Lose My Breath
J. Timberlake - SexyBack (Pokerface Mix on iTunes)
R. Kelly - Thoia Thoing (I hate admitting I like it)
Fabolous - Holla Back Youngin
LL Cool J - Headsprung
Usher - Caught Up
Nina Skyy - Your Body
Guy - Teddy's Jam 2
Tupac - Round and Round (probably good for a warm up or cool down)
Kanye West - Touch the Sky
I thought I was the only one with a playlist like that!
Mine has:Crack the Sky, Madonna, Sublime, Pink, Motley Crue, ACDC, Kiss, Huey Lewis, Bootcamp, David Bowie, GoGos, Oingo Boingo, Killers, Blink182, ABBA, Ted Nugent, Rush, Police, Wolfmother...
You get the picture.
