Okay, I think I read somewhere that doing the overhead press for shoulders, with db will hurt your back if you do it standing up?
I'd like to do it sitting down if that's easier on your back, but I don't really see why it would be, and it feels like it's being harder on my back and everything... and I'm scared the chair is gonna break lol.(My bench doesn't go all the way to vertical)
So what's different about standing up when you do em?
Ev
i think it's because when you stand you tend to lean back to cheat, creating stress on your erectors. sitting would be better, creating a stricter form n'all... i personally tend to do heavy military presses standing allowing me to cheat on those last two reps my bending my knees a little, but i like two do dumbell overhead presses seated using stricter form.
The only reason to do overhead presses standing or without back support is if you're doing it for sports reasons. Bodybuilders want to use maximal weights for their shoulders, and need the back support.
Plus I don't know about you, but my back gets enough work on it's own day.
