Heh, this is probably a first hearing this one... I think I lost weight. This morning's shake was pretty much the first substantial thing I had in almost 36 hours.
I ate absoutely nothing on Thanksgiving. Well, not nothing. I had a banana and a couple of slices of salami, and the turkey giblets. And the banana was only because my blood sugar tested way too low."Go home, have a beer and smash something. That's what I would do" - Unknown (but probably Thor).

WB....a story book fairy tale of early settlers sharing their bounty with the natives that went into a Federal Holiday of thanks and appreciation for living in this beautiful country, protected by our brave armed forces and being surrounded by family. As typical Americans we over indulge ourselves with an early Christmas type of feast. The one I went to was a cornucopia of great food and deserts that would shame a cruise liner. I must have had 5-6000 calories. We all went for a night hike on fire trails thru the Santa Monica mountains over looking La La Land for about two hours with flash lights and a big dog (mountain lions). Net gain this AM....1 pound.

Well, no boxing day - but Thanksgiving is a holiday that is in remembrance of an early feast the settlers had when they were hard up for food and the native americans brought them something to eat.or at least that's the official story... it is generally a time for family gatherings, and giving thanks for what we have - and feasting (or eating ourselves senseless)
Traditional foods include a roast turkey, bread stuffing, cranberry jelly, sweet potatoes (usually with sugar and marshmellows), mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and pumpkin pie. Though each family has a few dishes they add to the mix... (every black family I know does homemade macaroni and cheese.)

It's the last Thursday in November, and the traditional start of the "holiday season" that lasts through New year's.
As for holidays - most people celebrate the following: Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's... and then in May and September respectively are memorial Day and Labor Day - federal holidays, when most are off work and which mark the beginning and end of summer with picnics and grilling.
Oh, and of course, there's the 4th of July - Independence day. Fireworks for that one.Last edited by empresscat; 11-24-2006 at 07:54 AM.

I didn't even weigh myself this morning. I did eat a lot more than usual though. I feel pretty bloated still. This may not be a good thing either, since it is legs day today. I may have to wait til later and see if "things" unbloat a bit before I go to the gym. I t will be interesting to see how full the cardio equipment is with people trying to work off the extra calories.
So...I say to a friend that I can't eat what she eats because "I eat funny". So she says "what does funny taste like?". So I say "Like rubber chicken".

3 pounds more than yesterday. I didn't eat a big meal, just a lot of snacking. Tried to munch healthy stuff (carrots and such), but every once in a while some cheese and salami snuck in. One good thing is that I made sure to drink A LOT of water. Hopefully most of it is water weight, and I can get rid of it today with a little more cardio.
cardio...........God how I HATE cardio..............My brain is hanging upside-down

Well, I am doing my Thanksgiving power eating right now. Twenty four hours late, but better late than never. I know I will be bloated and uncomfortable for 3 days.
First dish was baked ziti, macaroni and cheese, turkey with gravy, stuffing and cranberry sauce.
Second dish is pernil, a Spanish style pork shoulder, more stuffing and cranberry sauce. This was to include a side of collards with smoked turkey, but I think I hit the wall (unless I can muster a major burp ). I need to leave room for some pumpkin and Dutch apple pie."Go home, have a beer and smash something. That's what I would do" - Unknown (but probably Thor).
