How would you go about doing this? I heard of some natural BBers who do this to reduce sodium levels in canned tuna (preferably chunky light tuna in water).
What kind of filter or skimmer do you use? I've never done this sort of thing before (and it's suppose to be warm water).
Is Mercury a water-soluble chemical like certain water-soluble vitamins? You think it would help to hot-wash tuna to reduce mercury levels a bit (I wish).

no, mercury is not water soluable, and doing that is a waste of time. Tuna has such low relative sodium levels compared to soooo many other foods. Unless you eat fast food, chinese food, or canned soups all the time, every day, you do NOT need to worry about sodium. AT ALL

typical small cans of tuna are (250mgx2.5 servings) 700mg sodium for a measly 150 calories, sorry thats quite a bit, but go ahead eat up, same goes with all canned and frozen foods... wash it off in a fine strainer. if your eating 2000 calories+ a day of natural food you'll have all the sodium u ever need w/o ANY added sodium.

u can get rid of over 3/4 of the soduim in regualr tuna if u wash it really well.. open the lid w/ can opener and then press down and drain all the water.. then remove lid run under water put lid back and drain again.. do this 5 or 6 times and way over half the sodium will be gone.
