Flaxseed oil bad for men?

I have been supplementing flaxseed oil for my omega 3 fats for over a year and I found it to be very beneficial. Recently I was told by a nutritionist (yea they usually talk crap) to stop taking flaxseed oil. He told me that a recent study showed that it can dramaticly increase a man's risk of getting prostate cancer!

Of course I was surprised to hear this so I did some googling and have found mixed opinions but I am not convinced. Some doctors say "Dont touch it! You could get prostate cancer", others say "Its the flaxseeds that are bad not the oil". Then other people are convinced it can cure prostate cancer. There doesnt seem to be any general consensus in the medical community whether or not it is safe and since there are so many clued up guys here I am wondering what people here think. Should we keep on taking flaxseed oil?

I've heard this crap for about a year now, I say its bull. Everything now is supposed to give you cancer. I am taking flax seed oil daily in my protein shakes, but plan on moving to NOW Salmon Oil because its just omega-3's, whereas flaxseed oil has omega 3/6's.

There are studies that say one thing , others that say the opposite .Too much BS if you ask me ! You have to wonder who is paying to cause this confusion and conflict in reports.
The omega in flax and fish oil have many benefits and I for one will continue taking both.

There are millions of men who supplement with flax oil and have no problems... but if you're worried, better to be safe than sorry, just get some fish oil.

Removing the prostate has been shown to reduce the chance of getting laid. No thanks. I reckon I'm going to stick with the flax oil for now unless I find some hard evidence that there are real risks involved.

I must have read 30 different links that say fish oil is what men should be taking the next link below it would say fish oil causes cancer flax seed is what you should be taking the next link below it would say flax seed causes cancer you should be taking fish oil and so on I found a very credible site that was from a MD with a PhD in neuroscience and a certified nurtionist. He made some very good points about the benefits of all natural ground organic flax seed. He said to play it safe the best thing to do is to sprinkle 2 tablespoons of ground flax over cereal or yogurt daily. I found and bought a bag of organic ground flaxseed at my local price chopper it wasn't expensive and I sprinkle it over my cereal daily instead of taking fish and or flax seed oils. That's what I recommend.
