Im reading some threads and everyone is saying how they can deadlift like 400+, 16/17 year olds doing around 350.
Im been training for 1 1/2 years and have started doing deadlifts for a few months and can only go 140kg - 300lbs for 3 reps (im 22). 85kg 5'11
But seeing how strong everyone on here is, my deadlift weight is embarrasing.
Are people just really strong on these forums, or am I just weak?

they're talkin out of their ass, 95% of posters will answer a question or thread and find a way to slip in an imaginary weight they dream of liftin in the hope everyone will fall of their chairs and worship them or respect them more.

Nothing embarrassing about a 300lb deadlift. I deadlift more than anyone at my gym and I'm only doing 290x5. Then again, no one deadlifts at my gym All these 16/17 year olds .. first off some of that is BS, some of them juice, and some use straps. Ultimately it doesn't matter though - as long as YOURE progressing that's the only important thing. Another year and you'll hit 4 plates easy, just keep plucking away at it.
Also, this is a BB forum. People are going to be strong DUH. Compare yourself to the average gym goer and I bet they couldn't even break 300lbs off the floor, let alone lock out (without breaking their back).

you don't have to be super strong to be a bodybuilder, that's what powerlifting's all about. and there's absolutely nothing wrong with usin straps and nothing wrong with wrappin a towel around the bar when i squat. the last thing i want when i'm squattin is to be worryin about the pain and i don't wanna rush my deadlifts worryin if i'll lose my grip.
you will eventually get strong yes, but those people who keep asking how much you bench are not what bbing is about. we all know that's just about the most hated question around.
those people who are modest about their poundages and are humble are obvious. those who shameless exaggerate their poundages are obvious too especially when you then see their picsspartan no 209

Yeah lots of e-stats. But being totally honest with you my last set of flat bench the other day was 255 for 3. I have no idea what my max would be if I tried to work up to it. I can only squat 225 like 5 times ATG, deadlift is about 250 two or three times with perfect form. The fact that I can pretty much bench more than I can squat and dead isn't something I'm proud of, it's that I just started squatting a deadlifting a couple months ago and I'm just getting used to it. Now I'm hooked.
Don't worry about what other people are posting what they bench or squat. You'll drive yourself nuts, just concentrate on making gains every time you hit the gym.

They just conform to pressure and say they do them. A good example will be guys that post HARD CORE! DO THE BIG 3! ATG! DEAD! BENCH! Then a month later they post a pic and they are 130 pounds of lanky fury or 220-260 pounds flexing up fatceps or they start a thread with "Injured my ___, Please help.."
Once you have been in here a while you'll know who the lifters are and most will tell you that numbers mean very little unless your actual goal is to be a power lifter.
I have heard the argument a billion times, "More strength means more mass!" I'm not all that strong. I know guys that can squat 400+ and bench 350 and they both weigh only 160 pounds and I'm not even joking. (I call him Big Mike )
300 pounds isn't bad at all if you have only been working our a few years or less just remember that size and weight go hand in hand to a degree but not to the degree of the public consensus.
If you’re actually embarrassed by your numbers you need to step back and reorganize your thought process. For example: Last night I was finishing with 30 pound DB curls standing next to a dude using 50s that was half my size. It doesn’t bother me in the least.

That's actually pretty good for your age based on what I see in real life versus what people say they can do on here. My gym has over 5000 members, but I guarantee that there is less than 100 that squat or deadlift. I am the ONLY member at my gum who does stiff legged deads. I haven't done a standard deadlift in over 7 years. I can stiff leg 315x5 but have never maxed. EVER. It doesn't matter as I am not going to compete in a powerlifting meet. Every now and then someone will see me deadlifting and ask how much I can do and I just respond "more than you".
I also haven't maxed on squats in years. At some point you will find out for BB'ing purposes it just doesn't matter.
Oh and if it makes you feel any better I think I can max bench like 255. Teens in my gym outbench me but in a posedown I make them look like little girls. For bb'ing its not what you lift, it what you LOOK like you lift.Bench 335 x 4, 375 x 1
Squat 455 x 2
DL 495 x 4
