    Sore kidney after hard workout?

I've found that after really intense workouts, my lower back on my right side will hurt. It's not like a muscle pain that I can rub, so I'm thinking it must be something else like an organ (kidney). I've found that it hurts most especially when I wake in the morning. Has anyone else ever experienced this? It's really starting to worry me. I'm a healthy 32 year old male, workout 4 days x week, eat clean, take in around 1-1.5 g protein per lb body weight.

    Thanks for any insight!!!!!

No energy drinks, but I do drink one cup of coffee about 30 min before workout. I did forget to mention that I've been taking Cell-Tech for about a month now ... and just switched to Cell-Tech hardcore. I drink about 100-120oz of water daily though.

Yeah, I know it has a LOT of sugar ... you think that is part of the problem? I don't know how much is too much. Guess I should go do some google-ing on sugar and kidneys.

    <lol> as in steroids? No.

Ok, a quick search on "sugar and kidneys" yielded some pretty interesting stuff. But, I thought that you wanted an insulin spike right after a workout to help build muscle? I don't eat sugar any other time during the day ... just with the Cell-Tech after workouts.

Ok, I'm getting the feeling from you guys that Cell-Tech is not a very popular choice in creatine and that it COULD be contributing to some of my pain b/c of all of the sugar. Abyss, I couldn't tell if that's what you were trying to say or not. So, if not Cell-Tech, then what? Suggestions?

What I have to say might scare you, but it's for your own good. I woke up one morning 2 years ago with a terrible pain in my right flank. By the end of the day the pain was more than I could stand so I went to the hospital. At first they thought it was a kidney stone. Then after more test they discovered my kindey had a blockage. My blood pressure was through the roof and my creatinine level was way to high. To make a long story short they ended up removing my right kidney last summer. I thought I was the picture of health too. I ate about 300 g of protein per day and drank a gallon of water. The pain was caused by the kidney not being able to drain and it eventually died. I went from 210 down to 170. I'm now on a 80 g of protein per day diet and back up to about 195. I doubt I'll ever compete angain, but it feels good just to be in the gym. My advice to you is not to take this lightly and get to the doctor and get check out. Good luck. I hope it's nothing as serious as mine.

I think I'll up the h20 for a few days and if that doesn't help, go see the doc. Thanks guys for the responses and guidance. BTW, without starting a fury ... is there any consensus, whatsoever, as to what would be a good alternative to Cell-Tech. I keep thinking it's the best, but I guess I'm slightly brain-washed. <lol> I've just used it for so long and haven't used anything else.
