snatches - how effective is this exercise?

I'm trying to decide whether or not to add them in this football program I'm making that I will start running around February.

Are they a must for football? I've got the clean + press in there right now as my only oly lift.
Goal of June football camp = 400lb squat

Farwell, my friends. I'll be back some day. Just need to get my head screwed on straight.

I would say snatches are very good lift for football training as long as you use correct form and perform them safely. Not only will they help to develop power but the overhead portion also promotes strengthening of the core and the shoulder joints.
