boxing is wayyy harder....wrestlers go at it for what...4 rounds?? boxing goes for 10-15 rounds while taking hits to the head...wrestling is about pinning and ****...id rather get pinned than get hooked in the kidneys
look at what happened to hasim rahman after the holyfield fight...

i have never boxed before but i have done wrestling which was hard as hell but im sure if you asked a hardcore wrestler theyd say wrestling b/c there are so many different things you can do and it demands alot from your body. but i think boxing is probably alot harder b/c you can actually get hurt more easily taking a fist to the face then getting slammed.

Wrestling is harder and more demanding. Wrestlers have 8 to 9 p.m. tournaments. Wrestlers need to stay in shape year round and have matches constantly. Boxers have 1 or 2 major matches a year. If you look at from eatch match then boxing is harder but not overall. Also the training in wrestling is by far harder. You can't even compare them. Wrestling your're using your whole body. Wrestling is by far the most brutal when it comes to training besides gymnastics.

Can't say one is 'harder' than the other... I wrestled for a couple years, and kickboxed for a while, and of course kickboxing HURTS more (although getting taken down hard can hurt too) and is very physically demanding, but I think cardio wise it doesn't get much more difficult than an even wrestling match.
Both require great cardio.. both require muscular endurance as well as explosive strength... both require good tactical thinking and technical skill. No way to say one is 'harder' than the other. Silly question.

I say boxing is the overall tougher sport. It is true that in wrestling they train harder, on average, than in boxing. But I think the reason for that is the crazy wrestler mentality that hard work is the only way. While strength and conditioning is very important for boxing, skill development is paramount.
Boxing is harder because it has all the same elements of wrestling (weight categories, individual, combat) but in boxing someone is literally trying to knock you out, not just pin you. It is quite difficult to stay calm and poised and focused when someone is hitting you in the head. Lets just say that most people either have it in them to be a boxer, or they don't. Most people can learn to be a wrestler if they are willing to put in the hard work.
Oh yeah, and dedicated boxers do train year round. I have about 15 fights a year. Pros have fewer because they don't wear headgear and they get beat up. They don't fight often because they need time to recover from the trauma of fighting. The rougher a sport is, the less often they play. Baseball plays the most, then basketball, then football, then boxing. It all is based on how bad the competition "beats up" and wares down the athlete.

Cant say ive boxed done slight bit of muay thai training tho some bjj and 2x state champion in wrestling in high school im guessing boxing is more painful but there is a reason a wrestling match is only 3 periods alot of boxers dance around ect. conserve energy. Wrestlers are in their stance going at it the whole time full body workout not just throwing punches. Bjj is similar is exhausting.

Boxing for me, I've played a few sports but boxing is physically and mentally punishing, you can play fight, you can play wresting, you can play rugby but you can't play boxing!
