My professor hasnt taught well all year, and now I am in danger of failing the class. I keep failing every test, and I have talked to her before with a couple of other students and asked for extra credit or if we could do home work for some extra credit, but she doesnt speak english well... and she just said she will put extra credit on the tests. I am going to talk to her again, im not sure what to say. I was going to tell her I need to pass the class bad and I need her to give me extra credit and bump all my test scores up, but its hard to communicate with her, her english isnt very good.

Well I need a "C" to pass, I need to pass this class though. I studied for like 3 hours last night for the test today. I need to bring my grade up, so far on my tests I got like two 65's. and I need to get a 70 average. I am trying to get her to let me do homework every night for extra points or something, but I doubt she will do it. What is the best way to convince her.

If that fails, you really should drop the class. Most colleges have a policy where if you drop the class, and retake it next semester, there is no penalty and it doesnt show on the transcript. If you are really busy there is no point wasting time on something you are unsure on, when you could be doing something else more beneficial to you.

Most professors don't take kindly of those who simply want a grade boost.

You're better off asking her questions ABOUT the TEST and class material. This does 2 things:
1. Most importantly shows that you're interested. How is she gonna fail someone that seems involved in the class but simply can't score well on tests?
2. You might get some test questions or some type of idea what will be on the test so you can make better use of your studying.

Professors don't hand out free grades. However, if they THINK you tried hard they might give you the boost. So do a bit of brown nosing. Maybe ask her HOW to study for the next test. Ask her "can you explain me ____ a little more i'm having a difficult time understanding it." etcetcetc. Gotta do this quite often

On a serious note, you might be screwed. I would be pretty surprised if a teacher would bump up all your test scores and give you extra credit. I'm sure in her eyes the fault doesn't lie with her teaching but with you.

I assume you are in college? Most of them will let you retake the class with a different teacher and let you throw away the old grade. I got a D- the first time I took calculus. I just didn't get the professor's teaching style and I couldn't figure out the material without some help. My school allowed like 4 retakes during your college career. You just had to go fill out a form saying which class you are going to retake and then when you pass the class they throw out the old grade and take the new one. In this way I replaced the D- with an A. It was a life-saver.

Anyway, my advice is to go to your student counciling office and ask them if they allow class retakes. Explain the situation to them, tell them that you know you could do better if given a 2nd chance with a new teacher and see what they tell you. Colleges WANT you to succeed. It makes them look better.

Flashback to my High School years when it could be considered cool and funny to fail and/or get suspended from school.
