digestion and body temp...
ok, this might sound rather weird, but i'm starting to believe that i'm getting far too 'in tune' with my body... why??
EVERY time i eat a decent meal (in other words, not just a snack), it seems like my body temp rises quite rapidly, say 10mins after the meal, and stays elevated for approximately 15-20 minutes.
now, i dont actually measure my body temp, but, i definitely 'feel' alot warmer and most of the time actually 'sweat' abit. nothing radical, but enough to get me thinking that either my metabolism is racing really higher than normal, or, my body has just become EXTREMELY non-efficient in digesting the food, producing much more heat than normal during the food/energy conversion...
do you nutritional experts have any idea why this has occured for the last 3 months or so?? (i'm in a bulking phase, by the way).
Terra? anyone??
thanks!

Sorry, I don;t know WHY - but this happens to me as well. I have some IBS issues - and on the weekends I have my worst trouble with it - when I have found that I am not going to the bathroom and continue eat my normal daily food - when I am having this problem - I sweat like a pig at night while sleeping and I am HOT all over. I think it has to do with digesting/ moving the food through.

Hey man, I don't think you have anything to worry about. If by "decent meal" you mean a meal that has a good deal of protein in it, then you're fine. Digesting protein actually requires your body to burn calories in order to successfully go through the process. Protein also raises your body temperature because of it's TEF. TEF means "thermal effect of food." So when you digest that food, your body heats up.
The only other thing I could think of that would cause you to get the sweats is a supplement you're taking. If you're taking niacin, then I guarantee that is what's causing you to heat up. Niacin causes vasodiolation (your blood vessels swell to a larger size) and that makes your body heat up.
I dunno. I'll have to know a little more about what you eat.

Usually when constipation ensues, there is one thing that will help you in a hurry. FIBER!! If you aren't getting a good amount of fiber in your diet, you can get easily constipated. Also, make sure to drink enough water in a day. Try to drink close to a gallon of water a day (128 fl oz.)
For fiber, you should eat complex carbohydrates. Things like oatmeal, whole wheat bread, brown rice, cruciferous veggies (brocolli and cauliflower) are good natural sources. If that isn't the route you're looking for then "crude" fiber is the way to go. Things like metamucil will set you straight. It will also help ease any intestinal cramping you may experience.
Like I said in the last message, I really have to know what you're eating to give you a more accurate solution.
