whats your favorite form of intensity!
I think that intensity is a major key to size building.
although i periodize my work outs for the exersices i use . i also use a different style/type of intensity.
e.g. one week i'll do rest pause
the next week i'll do drop sets
following week i use forced reps......
then the last week i'll do super-sets with a moderate weight.
but nothing hits the spot for me like the rest pause method....
whats your view guys ?

I have used each one of the things you have listed. I do see the benefit of the rest pause, and I have started to incorporate that into my workouts. I used to like drop sets, but lately have taken an approach of starting a set with a lighter weight, then increasing the weight at the end of the movement; e.g., doing alt. db curls with 40 pounds for 6 reps, then increasing to 55 and doing four reps. I find this more beneficial than the traditional drop, which may (after a while) simply lead to lactic acid build up and not to stimulating growth.
I do not like forced reps. I find that going this route does not do a whole lot for me.
Supersets - I can take them or leave them.
However, looking at your photos, these things have obviously worked for you, so go man, go.

I don't know what my favorite form of intensity is, but one of them is challenging myself each week with more weight on Squats. Disclaimer: What is intense for me, is a piece of cake for many others. My bodyweight is about 202lbs lately.
As many here know, I have been doing 10 sets with 3 reps each resting about 60 seconds (70 seconds max) between each set, all ATG or they do not count. But, as Mr. Someday and others know, it isn't the sets or reps, but the weights that are increased each time. By the 7th set, I am sweating like crazy.
I have been increasing 5 to 10 lbs each week after starting with 250lbs, depending how I feel. Last week I did it with 285lbs. Tomorrow morning, I will do 295lbs. Following some of Mr. S's DC program, when I get to a point where I fail twice successively, I will go to another exercise, or I may stick with squats, but a different set/rep routine.

I'm a believer in rest-pause. I did it for about 2 months and made dramatic increases in flat bench.
Also I like compound sets, supersets, and triple sets (3 sets of the same bodypart, no rest between exercises). Probably doesn't do much for size but good for cuts and a fierce burn.

All of the above performed right to the edge of puking, that's my guage of intensity. I like rest- pause pretty well.

I like forced reps when I can get them. Others I like are Rest-Pause, Partial reps, cheating and negatives.

Well, just got back from legs. I tried the 295 on squats, but did 2 sets, then had to drop to 290lbs for the remaining 8 sets. That is still an increase of 5lbs from last week, but I still failed my desired attempt. I am going to have to increase my diet with good calories to keep moving up.

Is the term rest pause just mean resting a minute or two between sets? What is drop sets? is their a link I can go to that has a body building glossary or a book I could purchase that defines the basic terms so I can stop asking dumb questions? Thanks.

No....
the PERCENTAGE of 1 Rep maximum. That is the exercise physiology definition of intensity.
I realize you meant "effort".
It comes up a lot under different threads, usually relating to HIT.

I have no idea how or why someone took a word that had a definitional meaning for nearly 100 years and was in ubiquitous use around the world as a programming parameter (intensity, volume, frequency) and decided to use it as something else when many other suitable words were available. Unless of course...one was unfamiliar with the field of exercise science, physiology, or weightlifting to begin with.
Then again - fast, efficient, exercise, without the clutter or danger of free weights, and supperior results - exercise for the masses and marketed to them as such.
As an encore performance, Arthur Jones will now mandate that the word watts be used to describe what are commonly known as lightbulbs. Have fun trying to differentiate them now.

I'm plenty happy - it makes me laugh every time. I simply marvel that someone without looking like a total stooge and ruining his credibility was able to pull it off through marketing to the degree where most people engaged in lifting don't have a clue as to the real meaning of the word and its use. Then again the stereotype musclehead, although a generalization, exists for a reason.

A real tail kicker for me is to go thru several routines with minimal rest between sets now and then, Such as
Back and shoulders
Military seated press front 4 sets low to high weights little to no rest.
Partial deads and shrugs all in one, put on the plates no rest.
Low pulley rows low to high 4 sets no rest
Db laterals pair of 45’s35’s25’s 4 sets no rest/
It’s a killer but it gets me out of the stuck zone.
And it really makes me psy up, which feels really good to release all my energy.

Does it happen a lot when you run?
Wasn't there a thread about this in the ladies section recently about training for the Mrs. "O" and I don't mean Olympia?
