Can wrists get stronger? ...or do I need wrist wraps

Hi, i am a bit over a year into lifting now and only recently have I experienced wrist pain. Last month it was my left wrist, and this week it's my right wrist.

It can be very painful, but seems to recover after a week or two. Can my wrists grow stronger after coming back from the minor injury, or is this pretty much my limit and I need to wear wrist wraps for the heavier pushing movements?

    Thanks for any replies.

Yes, the wrists can get stronger, but the muscles are tiny. Aikido takes advantage of the fact that no matter how strong a person is, the wrists are always the weakest link.

You shouldn't be in extreme pain. Make sure you're keeping your wrist straight when you're pressing.

Wrist pain is often a sign of insufficient flexibility or poor form, rarely is it a strength issue. That said, yes your wrists can get stronger if you work at it.

As mentioned likely a form issue. Make sure the bar is more in the base of your hands when pressing and don't let your wrists bend.
