Democrats are racist because of their diminished expectations of blacks, they seem to think that if you give 'dem 'dere black folks some welfare, throw them away in the ghetto, you won't have to worry about them, plus it gives Oprah something to do.

Luckily, the change is trending, but not soon enough, if you want to witness the Democrat mentality on blacks, just listen to Howard Dean.

During a meeting with the CBC on Friday, Dean joked: "You think the Republican National Committee could get this many people of color in a single room? Only if they had the hotel staff in here."

Yes Howard, because those welfare blacks and other minorities, are only good for cleaning your bedsheets and your toilet, serving you food and perhaps dancing a jig for you. Oh yeah, and on election day, you sure love them though, don't you????

Barack Obama is definitely going to be a force with the minorities and the Democrats. Does he have a realistic shot at winning? What are your thoughts? From what I see, he is 100x smarter than George Bush, just a little inexperienced.

I think he, or any first black man or woman running for presidency, will have a good shot,...simply based on the number of black/liberal people voting for him just because he is black, and the number of unregistered young black voters who register and vote, again simply because his is black. I don't think it's right but honestly I wouldn't blame them for doing that.

Realistically you have to expect those kind of votes in that situation.

Secondly, the reason why 95% (that's a whole lot, for the statistically impaired) of black voters voted Democratic is due to the legacy of MLK (that's Martin Luther King for the acronymically impaired) who was good friends with JFK (John Fitzgerald Kennedy), who happened to be a Democrat (and also did more to establish liberties and freedoms for our black brethren than any other president save Lincoln, in my opinion). So go take your facts to the streets and see how well they fly in the face of public opinion.

Finally, lighten up chester. The original intent of the post was meant in jest, as many black republicans are considered uncle toms in the community. I personally feel that everyone is entitled to vote according to their own convictions, but perceptions are perceptions.

Martin Luther King was also opposed by many of those same Democrats Bull Connor was a Democrat, and without 80% of Republicans supporting the issue, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 would have not passed, would have been stalled by the likes of Robert Byrd and Al Gore's daddy.

The problem is with what you stated, with black Republicans having a bad "rep" of sorts, simply because they are trying to get ahead in life. Its ridiculous and stupid. I'm not backpedaling at all, that has been my point all along. People act like somehow Republicans are racist, while Democrats are these benevolent savuirs that have done so many blessed things for blacks, but they did not even want to give them the right to not be discriminated against for a job, as the 1964 Civil Rights Act voting record showed. There's still racism present, but to claim that one party "cares" more than another and that another party is somehow "racist" is both absurd and intellectually dishonest, its just lame propaganda, but now that we have more black Republicans, more blacks in power, people are starting to slowly open their eyes and see what reality is all about.

He ran Texas for about 5 years, which is a better overall indicator of future President potential than a Senator. Incidentally 4 of of our last 5 presidents have ALL been governors in the past. The only one who wasn't, was the first President Bush, who was a vice president. Experience does count, I don't care HOW many covers Time and Newsweek give him, when a presidential election comes around, he will be exposed for his inexperience, that is, assuming he runs in 2008, 2012 or 2016 could very well be different stories based on what he accomplishes by then.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him and Hillary run on a combined ticket though, that would be a formidable duo for sure, and to me, for some reason, it seems even more than likely, as the Democrats are desperate to win an election, so putting together a woman and a minority would be a hell of a combination for them. Then again, what if the Republicans countered with Giuliani and Condoleeza Rice? So many possiblities for the 2008 election, its pretty exciting.

As far as this thread goes, if we have a qualified, experience black man who is running for president, I would never be opposed to voting for someone because of their race, that is ignorant. But I also think it is not a good thing that people would vote for a man BECAUSE of his race. That pretty much goes against everything Martin Luther King was trying to accomplish.

I don't think Obama is ready to be president, I don't think John Edwards is ready to be president, or Bill Frist, or any number of people. Mark Warner was my choice, but evidently he is not running now, but unless Obama runs for vice president, I think it will be a mistake, as media hype can only carry you so far.
