Negative calories?
Ok, ok i know you guys have heard alot about this but do strawberrys and brocholi really have negative calories? For people who read this and dont know about it, it doesnt mean they dont have calories just means you burn more calories digesting them then they really have.
But is it true? cause thatd be awsome if it was...cause i love strawberrys....and brocholi lol

I've heard that for celery, but I'm sure there'd be a point you could reach if you ate enough at once where you wouldn't be eating ngative calories.

I have not seen the documentation behind it. But it does make sense.
How many calories a food contains is less than how much energy (in kcal) the body will expend to break it down. So then the body will be burned calories by consuming it.
I think the catch is though you would have to eat a large amount of the certain food to it actually serve a purpose. Say each each strawberry has a "negative caloric" value of -0.5 kcal (Total random number pulled out of the air). You would have to eat 100 strawberries just to burn 50 cals which isn't much at all if you look at the grand scheme of consuming an average cutting diet of 2000 kcal. But on the other hand you get lots of anti-oxidants, vitamins and minerals, however, maybe running risk into toxcitiy levels of you stick to this method for an absurd amount of time.
That is just my thoughts though.

Well, you're exactly right, at least according to some guy named Dr. Lindlahr and some other experts. "Dr. Lindlahr states in his book, Eat and Reduce, that "You have to eat large amounts of catabolic foods to reduce". In other words, the more you eat, the more you lose.
Typically, a 25 calorie piece of broccoli (100 gram) requires 80 calories to digest, resulting in a net loss of 55 calories from the body fat!! Thus, the more you eat, the more you lose weight!" I got this info off of a few different websites. There's a list of about 100 negative calorie foods. Here's a some of the more common ones. I was surprised by the negative calorie fruits.
Negative Calorie Foods ~ Vegetables
asparagus
beets
broccoli
cabbage (green)
carrots
cauliflower
celery
chicory
chili peppers
cucumbers
endive
garlic
lettuce
onions
papayas
spinach
turnip
zucchini
Negative Calorie Foods ~ Fruit
apples
cranberries
grapefruit
lemons
mangos
oranges
pineapple
raspberries
strawberries
tangerines
Hope this helps.

i really really wanna believe that strawberries and green apples have negative caloric value but it just sounds too good to be true. I would have no problems at all limiting all my carbs to those two and fill the rest of my diet with lean protein and healthy fats. None zero zilch. Especially green sour apples

Strawberrys are supposed to due to the fiber content and then fact that it takes more to digest the seeds on the outside but apples i dunno ive only heard once or twice they do and even then i dont really beleive it

I would go with counting everything, Even if it is a so called negative calorie. Fruit definantly count for somthing cuss that is why so many people eat it post workout (whey+ Banana) they get carbs from fruit.
I have heard eating celery and carrots burn more calories then they have in them so i guess it could be negative. But if it is then thats great. I would still coutn it all to be on the safe side.

What do you base that on??? Do you happen to know off hand how many calories are burned by digesting an apple? I don't know personally but by doing a little searching I found a site which claims it's around 100 kcal, but I'm not sure what his source was. A medium apple contains about 80 kcal and a large one about 100 kcal so I guess it would be pretty close if his number was right. I didn't make that list up. You can find similar ones all over the internet and apples are included in everyone I found. That's all I know. Have a wonderful night.
