I do olive oil during cutting or bulking. With me it's become a staple. Right now my fats are coming from natty peanut butter, olive oil, and fish oil.

Why do people always ask if certain foods are "OK" while cutting? Do these people not understand what calories are? It's really strange to me.

I use it myself, it's a good fat and helps keep water weight down.

They want to make sure they're eating the best calories. And to some beginners the concept of taking tablespoons of pure fat is new and scary to them.

Its not just about calories. The ype of fat is important. Also foods that spike insulin are not good on a cut.

What kinds of food spike insulin? Sweet, simple carb types of food? Please elaborate
Isn't it sometimes good to spike insulin levels, to ensure your body absorbs the "good stuff" quicker, such as proteins and the "good fats"?

No. Spiking insulin levels just knocks you out of fat burning mode. The body cannot burn fat if insulin levels are elevated. Simple.
Exception being post workout.

Anything that metabolizes very quickly (white rice, sugars, alcohol, etc.) spikes ur blood glucose levels. That jazzes up ur pancreas make insulin to deal with the surplus blood glucose by turning it into fat, thats basically how insulin works.
So when u have high insulin levels, ur body is making fat, not burning it. That's a natural self-defense mechanism, high levels of blood glucose are very damaging to ur body.
