Smile Getting weaker. Any ideas?

I have been working out at a gym in Fraser Pennsylvania since march of 2001 after a six month lay-off due to a change in jobs. Anyway, For the first 6 months, I was doing really well losing weight, gaining muscle and strength. By the way, I now work 1 body part per day.

Since about October 2001, I have noticed I am starting to get weaker. I am continuing to lose weight which could contribute to my getting weaker but I am not getting any leaner from what I can see and I can't seem to put on more muscle. Although, I am happier being smaller than bigger, I still want to be putting on lean muscle. I like the look of a muscular physique. I just can't seem to get leaner or more muscular. I have tried playing around with my diet but I am concerned that it is just making me weaker. Actually, it feels humiliating to go to the gym and get weaker. Even the young guys seem to be stronger.

Does anyone have any ideas of whether something is lacking in my diet or what I should do to get more energy and strength? I need to be losing fat and I need to be putting on muscle. If it is happening, it is happening very very slowly. I have seen other guys make a difference in their bodies in a shorter time period than what is happening with me and they do not watch their diets.

I'm no Doctor but from what I have read you're either losing muscle, not eatting enough, or overtraining. Worse case scenario is your diet which is causing you to lose weight is making you lose muscle. I would try protein shakes and definetly go see a Doctor.

Very difficult to do both unless your taking drugs. There are a few of us older natural competitive bodybuilders in here who bulk for a time and then cut. When you first start training losing fat and gaining muscle may be possible for a while. 10 months is far too long to be dieting for and expect to make muscle and strength gains. I'll be honest with you and suggest you need to bulk for a few months gain some size and strength then maybe diet a couple of months for the summer. You'll look and feel a whole lot better by then.

Good Luck Kenny
