Anyone work out muscle groups more then 7 days apart?
Here is my situation, I am a hard gainer. It is very much a genetic thing. Both sides of my family and extended family are tall and thin. Everyone says this is a cop-out or whatever for doing something wrong. Hopefully you can take my word that my diet and rest are both in check.
Anyways, I have made gains but they are very very slow.
Well, I have tried several different programs. I did have some success with HIT. HIT recommends 10 weeks of working out and 1 week of rest with no workouts. I have done this a couple times.
Well recently, I took about 8 weeks off after a 10 week routine. This was not intentional... meaning I did not plan to do this, but due to changes I could not get around it.
Anyways, after 8 weeks off I came back much stronger on some of the major lifts. Within about 2 weeks I was back up to the same weight I left at.
So my question is this, what is best for me given my slow recovery time....
1. To work out several consecutive weeks then take longer rest periods (2-3 weeks off).
2. To hit each muscle group less often, more then 7 days apart as it is now.
