I have a Question for all who is on a competition diet?
Ok guys so this is my question i've been dieting know for about 2months i do really good during the week hit all of my meals and suplements on time and i get all of my workouts and cardio in. My problem is the weekends since im not at work im out of my daily routine so i find it really hard to follow my diet since im at home not doing anything once i do my morning cardio i get really bored and tent to eat stuff out of my diet. What do u guys do to keep yourself motivate during the weekend and follow ur diet? any opinions and advice will help. Thank u

My girlfriend recently competed in her first figure competition, and the thing that kept her motivated was knowing she'd be onstage in a bathing suit. And those bathing suits are small. The diet is tough, and at times, it sucks, but you have to rememember your goals. At first, she allowed herself a cheat meal on saturday nights (which usually consisted of dairy queen), but cut those out the closer she came to competition because she felt like she didn't need them.
Just remember your goals, that should help you stay motivated

Sugar free
I am a first time competitor also and i had alot of people tell me to do the sugar free popsicles haven't tried it yet but they say it helps, one thing i have tried is there is a soda you can buy at most stores called diet rite it doesn't have ANYTHING in it no carbs calories sugar natha, nothing and it is good to help fill you up when you are just wanting empty foods. it really helps me and it doesn't taste to bad either. also try sugar free extra gum it helps too.

To stay focused I look left then right, and remind myself that someone will stand on either side trying to look better than me. Then I pack my meals and supplements in a cooler and carry them all day

It's all about choices...which do you want more...the cupcake or the satisfaction of reaching your goal? Stay tough...you can do it!!

Yummy good stuff
I'm also a fan of Cherry Coke Zero.
But I'm surprised that no one has suggested any recipes for healthy good stuff....
I love to bake (i am also dieting for a show in july)
and I have tons of recipes that are totally part of my nutrition program....
fudge protein oatmeal bars (no sugar, made with healthy fats such as peanut butter or cashew butter)
flax blueberry whole wheat protein muffins
peanut butter cookies
home-made protein bars with dried cranberries
banana protein bars
have you ever tried trioplex cookies (PB choc chip... amazing when heated up in the microwave.... tastes just like a "real" cookie)
also check out fitday.com and you can log all your info into the computer so you know exactly what you can eat for the day. plan all your meals
i have tons of recipes so you can e-mail me and ill send em' to you

have a cheat meal. I have a cheat meal on the weekends to enjoy what I really like, not some second class food like fat free crap. I train hard all week, and do cardio and diet, if you are dedicated... you can have a meal, it works for some, but not all.

The thought of being on stage and being the best I can is what motivates me. I tell myself my competition is not cheating......and if they are, better for me!!
and it sounds masochistic, but I love the discipline of it....
I'm 11 1/2 weeks out now.....been at it for past 4 weeks...no slips, hit every meal..cool cause I am dropping BMI while holding my weight..that also motivates me too!

For me, if I make sure that I have plenty of food prepared ahead of time so I am less likely to wander from eating what I've already prepared because a)that's what I need to eat and b) if I don't, it's wasteful
Sometimes we'll grill about 6-8lbs of chicken all at one time

If you are dialed in good, a cheat meal is the best idea as stated above.

Alot of the time this is more of a mental battle than a hunger issue. My tips are:
Chew sugar free gum (Sweet Stuff) when having an impulse to eat something sweet or have a glass of diet pop.... I know the Diet Pepsi Jazz rocks.... I also like Dr Pepper diet cherry vanilla.
Never have to look for your food!!!! Have everything ready, portable and know exactly what your going to eat and when.
When I'm having a time of weakness I repeat something in my head a few times that motivates and take a deep breath. Or I look at myself in the mirror and picture being on stage.

Agreed 100%. many times I haven't been near my prepared meals and been starving and reached for the most convenient food which 9 out of 10 times is crap food.

im a full time student, and at one point worked 2 jobs. i would be away from home about all day and had a difficult time getting in a few healthy meals...
on sundays, i cook all my rice, chicken, potatoes, and steam all veggies. i stack them in my frige in sealed containers so when i leave the house at 6:30am i can grab them and go.
i had issues with my food (yogurt and fruit) not being really cold by the time i needed to eat it, so i went to the sporting good store (called Dick's here) and got a lunch bag that has a removable liner that velcros to the inside of my lunch bag that i can throw in the freezer overnite. it works well...everything stays cool past 3pm.
so my two pieces of advice is prepare all your food on the weekend and invest in a good lunch bag.

Hi,
I see from your post that you are holding on to muscle. I seem to lose muscle each week. What is the secret?
