    mass gaining after surgery

Sup dawgs. First things first My profile pic is from 2012 I was 18 and bulking so was alot thicker than I am now. Late 2012, I worked a slave job at ashley furniture, dealt with pneumonia for 5 months, and deveolped bone spurs on each shoulder along with bursitis. Have had 2 arthroscopic shoulder surgeries in early 2014 . Slowly getting stronger again but clearly have lost whatever mass I had. My question is what can I substitute for benching that will build my upper body back to what it was again? I cannot bench even light weight for another year or two due to my shoulder issues/surgeries. As for compound lifts, I squat and deadlift but just cannot hit my upper body with a good heavy lift anymore. I want to bulk again and im on a strict mass building diet in calorie surplus so that area is all taken care of. Any suggestions? Thanks

broke my collar bone, had surgery, started lifting again month and a half after.. muscle remembrance, itll be easy to get back to where you were, just make sure your caloric intake is high enough
I enjoy a nice butt on my face.

Talk to your doctor about what you're allowed to do. If he/she says it's ok to do lifts that you don't feel any pain on, then rotate through all the various chest exercises (machine press at various angles, db flys, cable flys, dips, pushup variants, etc) at extremely light weights to test it out and see if any of them can be done pain free.

There may be certain exercises that are just off limits to you for awhile. Talk to your doctor and physical therapist about what they recommend, but they are probably going to tell you to avoid any movements that cause pain or discomfort.

It's not worth pushing through the pain and messing up your repairs.

Alright thank u all . I have been testing which lifts and excersises give me pain. Seeing which ones I can still do and going from there. But mostly just using machines n stuff. Not free weights except squat and deads as I mentioned. Hopefully ill get enough lifts in to be able to bulk again. My intake should mostly be good I eat every 2-3 hrs lotta protein and almost twice as much carbs.
