    Strongest Leadership Trait

I got assigned to this group project in which we pick a leadership trait, research it, interview someone with it, make a power point, etc.

Anyway we are supposed to decide which trait to go with this week. This one girl in my group swears that flexibility is the greatest leadership trait (I think she just plagarized it off a website though b/c she keeps using quotes that I doubt she herself went out to find, like Henry Ford said this, Bill Gates said that).

I think that judgment is a stronger trait than flexibility. I mean a flexible leader is easily manipulated. A leader needs to lead people, not be lead by people. They've got to make the tough decisions, even if it's not the most popular choice.

What do you think is the strongest leadership trait (it can be different than judgment or flexibility)?

Leadership is a combination of many traits, not just one

Perseverance, you can be mediocre, but if you are mediocre with perseverance, you can do anything. A leader than can outlast anyone else is something special. You can be the most talented and gifted, but when that leader calls it quits then it is just a waste of talent. I hope that made sense, because I'm out of it today!
Truth is so obscure in these times, and falsehood so established, that, unless we love truth, we cannot know it.

Leadership is all about setting the example. If you walk the walk your people will listen to you and follow you. Of course you gotta make good decisions as well but it's more important to be confident enough to MAKE a decision whether it's good or bad than to not make any decisions.

I voted charisma, but conscientiousness is the most important with extraversion being second.

I think you should tell your lecturer that there isnt one main leadership trait and its balance between alot of things.

Thats what i would say anyway, even if he demands just one i'd still stick by what i said, but in the mean time heres some links you might find useful lol...

Says on this site ^ that the one main leadership trait is:-

"The first, and most important characteristic, of a leader is the decision to become a leader."

so i dunno if that helps or not lol

i disagree with perseverance. you could have an idea in your head and be totally wrong but persevere with it anyway not achieving anything. eg someone tells you only to train biceps to get the best physique. its better to be effective than efficient, so on this basis i would go for judgement

agreed. Leadership cannot be defined by 1 trait only. I'd say decissiveness and charisma is the most important though
