Boyscout is right. It depends a lot on body type and genetics...try experimenting. The first thing you will need to do is start tracking it, if you're not already, so I highly recommend starting a food log.

Personally the only time I have simple carbs are immediate postworkout. 80-90g (50% dextrose 50% maltodextrin) @ my bodyweight of 185lbs @ 13-14%.
Edit: Forgot to mention I am bulking. When cutting, my PWO nutrition may differ in simple carb content, but i'll have to experiment and see what works best for me.Last edited by \S/; 10-08-2006 at 12:37 PM.

When I am in a cutting phase, typically I will keep simple carbs out entirely as much as I can. If in a "casual" cut, I will run total carbs between 100 - 200g for the day, with most of them front-loaded and very close to zero after 5 pm. If I am on a harder cut, I will keep them below 100g for the day, again with most of them front-loaded.

I will use anything, including low G.I. protein bars, nuts, chicken breasts, turkey/salmon burgers, whatever I can find that is fairly low carb. I will bring maybe 2 cans of canned roast beef or chicken or whatever and just have that. There are a lot of options out there, but it really requires a radical thinking re-shift from traditional sandwich lunches...

I wouldnt suggest messing with your carb levels. Just eat fewer calories, do cardio, lift weights and you'll loose weight, Its not rocket science unless your tyring to get to 2% but for the average American, stop thinking loosing weihgt is this insane science, it isnt. fewer calories, keep the carb levels fine, carbs are your energy !!
eat like 500 calories below mantience. then lift everyday and try and burn 500 calories
-3500calories = 1 lb
thats 2lbs a week gone
