Since brown rice takes 45 min to cook, i was wondering how long would it last if i kept the rice stored in the refrigerator.

I would say to the OP that cooking no more than 2 days worth of rice is a good base. Dont cook up a weeks worth and then finish the last of it 5 or so days later. It might not be bad, but it most definately will taste like little hardened ticks.AAS/TRT Forums @ www.muscle-labs.com

its fine, do u guys have crap fridges or something? if you keep it sealed it can last for over a week just fine, you just might have some condensation leak to the bottom.
"Cooked brown rice can be stored, covered tightly, in a shallow container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days or in the freezer for 6 months according to the USA Rice Federation. After cooked rice has cooled in the refrigerator, transfer it to plastic freezer bags in quantities needed for future meals. Label with the date and quantity."
remember these are just guidelines, its quite fine for longer as well but you should be able to eat it in a week I hope.
to poster above, i cook ALL my food for 5 days on Sunday, what would you say about that? its quite fine I've been doing it this whole year and never had an issue.
the key is once you cook it to put it in the fridge right away, most of the problems occur for letting it sit out at room temp for awhile. so cook, put it straight into containers and into fridge.Last edited by grapemaster; 10-08-2006 at 12:12 PM.
