How much weight do you guys use when your doing skull crushers?

Hey guys, latly i have really been trying to biuld up my tris, and skull crushers seem to work the best, along with close grip. Should i bet doing as much weight as possible, and loose some form? Or drop of 10pd and have perfect form where i can get like 12reps and there killing me? Or should i pack on the weight and only get like 5 good form ones, but more weight? I can do about 70pd with the ez bar with crushers and have perfect form, anything more and it starts to suffer...opinions?

Yeah, I have the same issue. I do add more weight but I make sure I have a spotter with me. The thing is, I can push the weight, but I always hesitate to lower thinking it'll 'crush my skull' lol.

    Thumbs down

Use the weight that is appropriate for the rep range you want to do, with good form. Using good form shouldn't be an issue whatever weight you are using really..

And pd is not the abbreviation for pounds, its "lbs".................

really all you need is good form. you really dont want to freak up, it could lead to serious complications.use a weight you can handle for 10 good reps and add gradually even if its only 2.5 pound plates eventually you will be able to control more weight!

Exactly as stated above. Control > weight. The problem with adding enough weight to only squeeze out 5 reps, is it generally only works in theory. Most people, but not all....cannot control that amount of weight for only 5 reps. The form degrades, and the effectiveness therefore diminishes as well.

Damn 165 sounds lethal. That would place a lot of localised stress on the olecranon and the interior of the joint. OUCH

There will be huge stresses on the tricep tendons too. You can imagine how much force because if it is 165 at the wrist, it is going to be huge at the elbow considering how small the moment is and how poor the leverage is so close to the pivot. Still I suppose most exercises stress the tendons a huge amount, like calf raises

If i'ts hurting, then it is working

It's better to do good form, and go till it is really sore. Make the sets hard, but try not to go over 20 reps

Yes thats the only problem I had with em. They are a very good iso exercise but at higher weights its just too hard to not get injured. Risky exercise at higher weights if you ask me.

    This post makes me angry.

Hey guys, how much do you bench press? Because I want to know if I should do more or less weight when I'm working out. Should I do a ****load of weight for low reps with **** form, or light weight and good form? I'm so confused, this is so hard to understand!

He is wanting opinions on whether other people suffer a little pain and lose form when increasing the weightload.
