Same article further down he answers this question...something more relevent to this forum...By the way, many police departments are starting to revaluate officers when it comes to body fat. The University of Montreal did a study and found that the average cop has a body fat of 23%. The average felon's body fat was 8%. The average cop's VO2Max was 37; the average felon's was 55. There is a trend toward changing this, but if you look at European cops verses North American cops, the difference is stellar.
Q: Is there a certain age where a man has to start worrying more about overtraining or start modifying his training in general because of age? When does it all start to go downhill?

I did a series of 12 Step AA meetings in the early 80s at Chino Mens Prison. The inmates in the hall were mostly buff and the guards had sloppy bellys. Anabolic Steroids were as popular inside the prison as was *******. The men just doubled up on the crap food, a little Dianabol and pumped away in the yard.

I'm a felon, and I'm ripped and stronger than the average guy, but yet I'm still small at just under 170. When I was arrested I was told I was just too smart for my own good, but whatever. I have no DOC # nor have I been to prison. It just pisses me off the way some people classify all felons.

In Ohio prisons don't have the weight equipment to get huge with ever since the break out 12 years ago when inmates used 45lb plates to bust through the cinderblock walls. I believe all they have now are machines with low weight stacks.
I do know for sure that most county jails have no weights to speak of.
I gave more thought to the article that was quoted at the beginning of this thread and all I can think is BS. I can walk through my jail right now I probably won't find one person in shape. When someone who is buffed does come to our facility we notice because it's unusual.Last edited by JRT6; 10-24-2006 at 06:34 PM.

Hate to say it but I'd have to agree with the thread starter......especially with todays young gangbangers....these guys are in friggin great shape..and a lot of them are on some type of phycotic drug that makes them as strong as well .I should know...I worked Rikers Island here in NY for 8 years and in central bookings for another 10...I see these guys that come in and I see the cops who bring them there..wont go into details but sometimes it takes more than 3 cops to give one of these perps a corrective interview. remember that while most working guys like you and I have homes, bills and family to look after...these guys do nothing but eat, sleep, workout and plot.
There are only two men in this world who have willingly given up their live's and died for me...and thats Jesus Christ and the American Soldier!!

yea theres a reason why the Marvin Hagler when he fought Hitman Herns referred to his workout routine as the "jailhouse workout or he was in "jail". I have never been locked up, thank god, but have had family and friends who have. From what Ive seena and heard it can turn on out, feeble and cripple them destroy them mentally even physically and make life depressing, or the opposite turn one into an animal that is focused on tearning the walls down. That animal side plus aggression which is going to produce natural testosterone gives people that energy to workout making them huge and ripped. I mean there are crackheads and fatasses in jail, but a high percentage when theya re in the the yard works out. Plus pushups in your cell..I mean like the last gus said what else is there to do except ****, eat, sleep!!!!
With the increase in cardio and boxing/mma training I am staying at 175-185lbs compared to 215-230lbs. Will post recent pics soon. Since I will not fight until 6 months from now I will gain some muscle weight and worry about cutting weight later.
