Kurt Angle is your W.O.N. wrestler of the year
Wasn't sure who else subscribes to Dave Meltzer's wrestling observer newsletter but his year end awards are out and Angle was named wrestler of the year. Very deserving if you ask me.

HHH won worst wrestler of the year, he didn't do **** all this year he had his little 10 minutes of fame at MSG and it went all down hill from there... Eddie ruled the earth with awesome matches on 3 continents in 2002.

but eddie didnt do as much for the business
he wrestled well, but thats it
HHH had the amazing comeback, and some good early year matches, continuously working thur injuries
he didnt deserve WOTY but definately not worst
Id say Angle was deserving
with Benoit prolly being 2nd

Becuase he was going bald anyway, so it gave him a good reason to shave and hide it.

Eddie actually finished second so he did ok for himself.
The thing with the observer awards is that it takes into consideration both technical skill and drawing ability, both of which Angle had.
I've disagreed with Meltzer about some of the winners in the past, but this year was a good pick.

I agree
I like that...drawing power is as important if not more as ability
bad wrestlers can still draw(Hogan for ex.)
great technical wrestlers who cant draw have no future

Actually both are considered just as important in naming who is the wrestler of the year as it should be.
And being a good wrestler is important.

i ddint say it wasnt
but you can still draw as a bad wrestler and get famous
u cant if your a good wrestler but cannot generate crowd excitement
you can be the best in the world..but if you cant draw more than 200 at an Indy show
your not the best overall wrestler

I will agree, and also say that Angle represents both, he is a very good ring worker, and cuts a mean promo. He gets a reaction every time and people want to see him, if just to chant "You Suck" in time to the music.
the rock is an example of a not very good ring worker who because of his promos and charisma is totally over. Even if he turns heel, in time he will be a face again.
And the peoples elbow will still be one of the dumbest moves ever.

I agree that to most people drawing power is a big factor in naming who is the best, but to me, and many other people, in ring skill is the dominating factor in considering who is a great wrestler.
Ricky Steamboat may have never drawn as much as Hogan, but he was a great wrestler.
That's what these awards are based on. Now drawing power may be a bit of a tie breaker, and yes it is taken into consideration when choosing the winners, but inring skill is always the most important, that's why there is a seperate category for box office draw.

I agree Kurt Angle is def. one of the top 2 or 3 wrestlers of the year. HHH imo is the biggest dissapointment his worked has sucked period. He is a shell of himself before his quad injury.

Bryan Danielson should be the 2007 singles wrestler of the year. MOTY candidates against Nigel McGuinness, KENTA, Morishima, & Go Shiosaki in a relatively short span of time because he has been sidelined with injuries.
But for a 2007 MVP, The Briscoes. MOTYCs against Claudio/Sydal, MCMG, Steenerico several different times, and each other at FYF. These guys are having a red hot year and making EVERYONE who faces them look like a million bucks. If the 2/3 falls match with Hero/CC at Domination had gone to a third fall, that would have been my MOTY.
