Get out of gym membership
My apartment complex is in the process of building a fitness center. They are giving us a free membership to a better gym then the one I am at right now. I signed a year long contract with my current gym. The only two ways to get out of the membership is to show proof that I moved or show that I have a medical condition that makes me unable to continue to work out. If I go to the infirmery at my college and tell them my elbow is giving me problems, will they write a note stating that I can't continue working out? Am I like to see a nurse at an infirmery or a doctor? My other option would be to go to a general physician. The problem is that I don't want to have to go through expensive tests (x-rays). Will an MD be likely to say that I should discontinue working out based on what I tell him/her (without doing tests)? I did break my elbow when I was younger and had surgery on it. It has a huge scar that might help.
Any advice...

ask an md if they have any spare x ray sheets laying around that show a broken bone.....bring sheet to said gym with said bone wrapped up and say look at this ****, I broke it
I lifted. I lifted until my muscles burned and my veins pumped battery acid. Then I lifted some more

you would need to have a note though....
I would say this: get your ass kicked out, be creative, and it will happen

Most places will let you out if you are moving XX number of miles from their nearest location.

Yeah, they will let me out if I can show proof that I live 25 miles away from the gym. I would need to show some kind of proof that I changed residency (electric bill, lease, etc...).

That's why i lift at the house. No sweaty machines, no "tough guys", and unfortunately no females, but oh well.
-Bro, I'd go with doctor idea. Explain how your elbow is forcing pain along your arm, and trust that he'll buy it. Or go in there with bandages, and tell them you've been shot.
-I did that in my 1st year of college. Not only did it work for the classes I missed, i got some sympathy head. She wouldn't let me piitb, she thought it might strain my condition.
-Damn those fake bullet wounds.

a doctor is not just gonna say "oh well, go home with your pain and see if it gets better"......he is going to do tests and x-rays to see what the problem is and see how he can cure it........
no gym will refund money......in the event of an injury such as pain or a broken bone they will just freeze your account and start it up again when you are able to come back

They have my credit card info. They just automatically charge it every month.

I was thinking the same thing. I was planning on saying that it hurts only when I lift. Damn... I should have just signed a semester contract.

My last gym did that to me. They wouldn't let me cancel my membership. So 5 out of 7 days a week I would go in their bathroom and take a **** right next to their toilet =).

get your boss at your job to write out a letter that states that you will be getting transfered to a new location that is a good distance away. If they do not let you out, for this erason or whatever reason you give, call your credit card compnay and ask about disputing their bill.

Most places will let you out of the contract for a fee. Goodlife charges $75 to break the contract.
