ATTENTION ~ I Quit Smoking!
Before i dump some unneeded details on you, i would like to thank DanGK for starting this thread: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=655948
I saw that thread and was very skepticle. Afterall, i knew i had been smoking 2 packs a day for the last 12 YEARS!!! And now some book is going to somehow magically cure me of my cravings??
After a few months of seeing that thread for the first time, i hit the store and picked up a copy.
The first paragraph in the book says to not quit OR cut down in any way, until you have read the entire book. The author instructs that you must smoke as you normally would throughout the entire book. About mid-book i got to the point where i had to FORCE myself to smoke! This wont make any sense to you, but in my mind i was aleady a non-smoker, who just happened to be smoking!!
Tonight, about 20 minutes ago i finally completed the book. Following the final instruction i went and smoked my final cigarette.
YES, i understand it has been only 20 minutes, but i can say very confidently that i am officially a non-smoker.
As if i really had to say "WHY" i did this, here are a few of my many reasons:
1. Yellow teeth
2. Bad breath
3. anti-socialism (having to go outside to smoke, or be ashamed you smoke)
4. money
5. burn marks in my clothes
6. nicotene is a poison
So there it is. I will post in here every now and then, to give updates and let you know how the withdrawl process goes. Im actually really looking forward to it, because once its done i can move on with my non-smoking life!
Thanks for the support, and thanks to DanGK for getting me started!!
To anyone who still smokes, give this book a chance! Even if you currently have no desire to quit (like i didnt), read it!!

Congrats bro, but the true test will be the 3 day hump. If you can get threw 3 days of no smoking, then you will be fine.....By the way it is a huge turn of for girls when they see guys smoke, vis versa...

nah, i dont need 3 days, weeks, or years ... im done. As of right now, i am not a smoker.
However i WILL observe the 3 days when it comes to partying. I dont want to subject myself to having to walk through the smoking section of a club, while drunk and still having cravings.
So i will take a few weeks off of the scene, no biggie.
But yes, i am done and very glad i am.

Good job, my aunt swears by that book too, shes quit for 1.5 years now and used to smoke 1.5 packs a day. I used the patch for a little bit (2 weeks out of 10 recommended) then just quit everything after that (smoking, patch). Its a ****ty habit and it sucks for bodybuilding/lifting lol. Cardio too, I remember heaving trying to run 2 miles and smoking was a huge part of that.

Yeah, long past that dude. Running feels great the day you finally out that last smoke. You should hit the gym alot for the next few weeks, it keeps your mind clear and you'll be amazed how quickly your cardio recovery improves. I guarantee you'll see results this week in terms of overall running time/speed and a decrease in rest times between sets. You'll probably be able to cram more sets into a 1 hour workout, quitting was the best thing I did personally for bb'ing purposes.

honestly you made the decision, so stick with it.
but if it were me, id have an easier time starting to smoke again and go get that book ... its critical that you smoke while you read it. But dont take that as me advising you to go smoke again ... do whatever you can to hold off, be strong!
give me your email address in a PM
