    Starting up Lacrosse, have questions about equipment

    I am about to start Lacrosse soon and had some questions about the sport. Since I don't own any cleats, should I be getting soccer or football cleats? I was looking at the different cleats Adidas offer. I am more leaning towards soccer shoes because I may play soccer in the coming year and that would save me money, but if football cleats are better I'll buy them.

    Secondly, does the kind of stick/pads really matter? Any brands/types I want to avoid?

    Thanks in advance.

    Get football cleats. You'll look like a tool in soccer clears with lacrosse gear on. And try to get something that's 3/4 height at least. You'll need more ankle support than a soccer cleat can offer.

    Just go on eastbay.com and find a pair on sale.

    hmm....i find the whole cleats/boots thing all down to personal preference. I use "soccer" ones for all sports, as do a lot of people at my school, and none of us look like "tools". If you have good pace, definitely go soccer style.

    they actually do make cleats just for lacrosse, the two brands i can think of that make them are warrior and brine but there could be others. One of the most popular brands for gear would probably be warrior and a real good helmet to get would be the cascade cpx. if u play attack or middie id go with a stick thats pretty light but still has some strength but if u play defense id go with the titan pro, krypto pro, or anything made with titanium.

    I've noticed there are different "ground types" for cleats. What should I be looking for, soft or hard ground?

    unless you have weak ankles just get bloody soccer cleats. a lot of people use them and it will save you money.

    hard=grass
    soft=turf

    figure it out.

    as far as gear, your priorities should be-

    1. head
    2. gloves
    3. shaft
    4. helmet

    for the rest, whatever you find comfortable.

    edit* in the end its the player anyway. i know people with amazing gear who suck balls and people with ****ty stuff theyve been using since junior high and ruin everyone.
