A friend of mine came over to my house to visit, I haven’t seen him in about 3 years or so. I didn’t have a shirt on (I am painting my house as I am selling). So anyway he sits down we are chatting and he comes out and says “Damn man you don’t have to make a muscle to see your muscle” It was one of the stupidest comments I have ever heard but I understood where he was coming from, you know when you are young like 5-10 years old and someone asked to see your muscle you make a bicep to show them the only muscle you know of LOL Anyway he goes on to say “man all of us are getting old (he meant the people we all grew up with) yet you seem to be getting younger” Puts all the hardwork I put in the gym in perspective…..

I agree, its the compliments, intentional and unintentional that make all the hard work worthwhile....
I've noticed, since I've been working out (2 years now) that I've become the "go to guy" at my office for hints and tips on exercise and healthy eating...... it's completely uninvited but I take it as a compliment and a confirmation that I must be doing something right, for people to want to ask me how I do it.... I used to think when I was at my old job, that people knew I worked out because I took the life changing decision while there and everyone saw the physical change, but now have new job, and within 1 month I had people I didnt even know coming up to me and asking what they should do to get in shape etc..... like I must have a sign on my back "Just ask me" ..... but I get a kick out it and enjoy helping....and in some cases the people have taken my advice and made some healthy decisions with their lives.......

Most everyone notices right away, but some people mention it right away, while others wait for a good opportunity to bring it up, but it's always the same question,"Do you work out?"
Me, "yeah"
Other, "i was gonna say, (insert which bodypart looks big, huge, or ripped)"
Me, "well, it's a lot of hard work"
Other, "I can tell"
Me, (casually) "Thanks"
but inside I'm thinking YES!

Excellent! Keep up the good work.
EDIT: Come to think of it I got a couple compliments that I wouild like to share. Errr, i guess they can be considered as compliments.
Anyway, I recently had two seperate events were gentlemen that with were obviously "built" caught my eye from across the gym to ask for a spot (don't know these people). I figure they must have seen something in my workout routine that gave them reason to believe that I know how to spot correctly (or at least had a better chance of doing so than the other people in the gym). When it happened the second time I was proud enough that I mentioned it to my wife. Of course, she had no idea why I felt good about this. Maybe its not something that is necessarily a compliment, but I tend to view it as something positive.Last edited by jspirate; 09-15-2006 at 04:04 AM.

Well speaking of compliments had one last night, me and my five kids went to see my brother leave (he is relocating to another state) At the port authority we stopped to get something to eat, while I was with my kids (mind you my kids are 25, 23, 21, 19 and 18) when a crowd of people kept hearing my kids refer to me as Dad, they said those are your kids? When I said yes, they said damn we thought you were their brother never would we imagine you was their father God bless you, you look like one of them can we ask how old are you?
